EVEREST EXPEDITION 1953: An oblong 12mo postal souvenir miniature issued to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of The Conquest of Mount Everest in 1953, individually signed by Tenzing Norgay (1914-1986) Nepalese Indian Sherpa Mountaineer, the first man, with Edmund Hillary, to reach the summit of Mount Everest, 1953 and John Hunt (1910-1998) Baron Hunt. British Army Officer, Leader of the successful British Expedition to Mount Everest, 1953. Both have signed with their names alone in blue inks to clear areas above and below an attractive printed design. With a limitations stamp to the verso, numbered 157 of 500. Together with Edmund Hillary (1919-2008) New Zealand Mountaineer, the first man, with Tenzing Norgay, to reach the summit of Mount Everest, 1953. Black ink signature ('E. P. Hillary') on an oblong 8vo sheet of illustrated printed stationery from the Sherpa Hospital Committee in Auckland, New Zealand, of which Hillary was the chairman. VG to EX, 2

BRAUN EVA: (1912-1945) Longtime companion of Adolf Hitler and, briefly, his wife. Hitler and Braun committed suicide together, less than 40 hours after marrying, in the Fuhrerbunker beneath the Reich Chancellery in Berlin, 30th April 1945. Rare A.N.S., 'Herzliche Grusse, Eva', at the base of an A.L.S. by one of her friends, on the verso of a picture postcard depicting St Bartholoma and the Watzmann mountain in the background, n.p. (Konigssee), n.d. (20th July 1937), to Hella Teuerling in Vienna. Braun's friend, whose signature is unidentified, writes to their friend in Austria, telling her that they have been rowing and asking if they are jealous. She also remarks that they will return tomorrow. Written in bold pencil, Braun adds her greetings and signature beneath, also in bold pencil. Postage stamp neatly removed and with a few very light, extremely minor stains, otherwise VG
REYNOLDS JOSHUA: (1723-1792) English Painter. Ink signature ('J Reynolds') at the head of a 12mo card. Immediately beneath the signature appears the Reynolds collectors mark, a small square stamp featuring the initials S R/ J R, apparently applied by the executors of his will in 1792 to authenticate drawings etc. Very slightly irregularly trimmed to two edges and with some slight scuffing, not affecting the signature or stamp, about VG
TURNER ROSCOE: (1895-1970) American Aviator, three times winner of the Thompson Trophy. Envelope signed ('Roscoe Turner'), addressed to Lee H. Young in Santa Monica, California and bearing a United States postage stamp post marked at Los Angeles, California, 8th July 1933. Signed by Turner in green fountain pen ink and annotated in his hand, 'N.Y. to L.A. 11hrs 30 min. 7-1-33'. Together with a second Air Mail envelope signed by Turner, addressed to Jos. J. Mattes in Chicago, Illinois and bearing two American postage stamps post marked at Brooklyn, 17th September 1934. The envelope bears a rubber stamp commemorating the 4th Annual Bendix Trophy Race from Los Angeles to New York, 31st August 1934. Signed in green fountain pen ink by Turner with his name alone. Some light, minor age wear, only very slightly affecting part of Turner's signature on one of the envelopes, about VG, 2

Vintage signed 7 x 9 photograph of Gropius seated in a half length pose behind his desk. Photograph by Fritz Eschen of Berlin and bearing his credit stamp and date 1956 to the verso. Signed ('Walter Gropius') in bold fountain pen ink with his name alone to a largely clear area at the base of the image. A couple of very slight, minor corner creases, otherwise VG

COLLISHAW RAYMOND: (1893-1976) Canadian Air Vice Marshal and Fighter Pilot, the second highest scoring Canadian Ace (60 victories) of World War I. T.L.S., R Collishaw, one page, 8vo (neatly trimmed), 'In the Field', 12th June 1918, to the Officer Commanding No. 209 Squadron R.A.F., 22nd. Wing R.A.F. Collishaw writes, in full, 'It is requested that a complete and concise list of all combats engaged in by Flight Lieutenant A. T. Whealy while with No. 9 Naval Squadron from period 5th May 1917 to 12th September 1917 may be forwarded for my information please'. Signed by Collishaw in his capacity as Major, Officer Commanding No. 203 Squadron R.A.F. With an official date stamp to the upper right corner and one file hole to the left edge. About VG Arthur Whealy (1895-1945) Canadian Fighter Ace (27 victories) of World War I.
