ATHLETICS: A colour 6 x 4 commemorative card issued for the Pan American Games at Indianapolis featuring a colour image of athletes running in full length poses and bearing a United States postage stamp, post marked 29th January 1987, individually signed by five athletes, all of whom won the 100 metres Olympic Gold medal, comprising Harrison Dillard (1948), Armin Hary (1960), Allan Wells (1980), Carl Lewis (1984 & 1988) and Linford Christie (1992). All have signed in black inks to clear areas, Dillard and Wells adding the place and dates of their Olympic performances beneath their signatures. VG

RENOIR PIERRE-AUGUSTE: (1841-1919) French Impressionist Artist. A good vintage signed 6.5 x 10.5 photograph, being a reproduction of one of the artist's studies of a nude female, standing in a full length profile pose. Signed ('Renoir') in ink with his name alone to the lower border. Also signed by the Mayor of Cagnes beneath a short statement confirming the authenticity of Renoir's signature, dated 10th January 1911. The lower border also features the Mayor's official purple rubber stamp. Neatly mounted to a page removed from a contemporary album. Some extremely minor, light age wear, VG

D.S., A Tennyson, being a signed cheque, the text in the hand of his wife, Emily, penned on an oblong 8vo sheet of notepaper, Freshwater, 5th July 1865. The cheque is drawn on Olding, Osborne & Co. of London, and is made payable to Charles Heard for the sum of £30.0.0. With a One Penny Revenue stamp affixed in the upper right corner and several bank cancellations, one only very lightly affecting Tennyson's signature. D.S., Anne R, as Queen, at the head, one page (vellum), oblong folio, Court at Windsor, 2nd August 1709. The manuscript document is a military commission appointing John Lloyd to be a Captain in the Regiment of Foot commanded by Archibald, Earl of Ilay. Countersigned at the foot by Henry Boyle (1669-1725) 1st Baron Carleton. Anglo-Irish Politician, Lord Treasurer of Ireland 1704-15 & Northern Secretary 1708-10. Lacking the seal although with the pale blue revenue stamp affixed in the left margin. Some light overall age wear and a few minor stains, G Archibald Campbell (1682-1761) 3rd Duke of Argyll, Earl of Ilay (from 1706). Scottish Nobleman, Politician & Soldier. One of the founders of the Royal Bank of Scotland.

GUEVARA CHE: (1928-1967) Argentine Marxist Revolutionary & guerrilla leader. D.S., Che, one page, folio, Havana, 24th July 1961. The partially typed document, in Spanish, is headed Resolution Number 61-456 and follows law 932 of 23rd February 1961, published in the official gazette, relating to the Ministry of Industries and the creation of businesses within the consolidated metal packaging industry, further appointing Carlos Alvarez Garcia to be head of the section. Signed by Guevara with his typically small signature at the conclusion of the document in his capacity as Minister of Industries. With an official ministry stamp at the head. Two file holes to the left edge, not affecting the text or signature, and some light creasing and minor age wear, about VG
