Kuala Krai. 1924 Covers to Penang with scarce barred type double ring c.d.s (Proud D2), one cover franked 1c pair + 3c (datestamps a little faint in places); the other "On Government Service" cover registered with 1c + 8c vertical pair tied by two fine datestamps, boxed registration handstamp and violet "W.A Ward / DISTRICT OFFICER / ULU KELANTAN", minor staining but scarce and attractive. 1882 Provisional Issue 1c black on magenta, variety missing cross at right, unused no gum, and used within a pair. This major variety occurred on stamp six of the fifth printing only. 1926-33 Used and unused selection comprising 1926-30 15c and 18c on orange paper vertical pairs with "cent•s" variety on upper stamp used, cancels on the lower stamps only; 1926-30 9c and 18c on orange paper both used (18c with Mkoani c.d.s), 31c and 50c both with "cent•s" variety unused, and two unusual 1933 pieces cut from envelopes with combinations of the 1926-30 9c + 18c orange + 1930-33 2c, or 1926-30 21c + 1930-33 2c pair + 6c, the pieces a little creased. Bisected Dues. 1932 Cover from Malta to Cornwall franked 1½d, endorsed "1d to pay" with a diagonally bisected 2d postage due tied by Perranwell Station c.d.s (Jan. 25), 45cm opening tear from the upper edge well clear of the stamp, otherwise fine and very scarce. A rare postage due bisect with a station cancel, and the only recorded bisected 1924-31 issue 2d (D24). Photo on Page 32.

1875 1d Magenta, watermark Crown CC, with "SPECIMEN" overprint type D10, fine mint, possibly unique. This type D10 overprint only recorded by Samuel on the St. Christopher 1870 perf 12½ 1d rose and 6d, unlisted on this stamp with no example in the Brookes collection. 1891 Cover to Manchester with a 1d lilac and South Eastern Railway 2d letter stamp both pen cancelled and tied upon arrival by Manchester 498 duplexs (Aug. 30), violet "WATERLOO / PARCELS OFFICE" in lower left corner, the reverse unusually bearing a large label "South Eastern Railway, Charges To Pay, Booked Through, To Manchester via Wloo". Revenues - Nottingham. 1897 (Oct. 4) Piece of embossed Inland Revenue paper bearing embossed perforated 1d blue revenue tied by the red embossed cancel with arms of Nottingham, handstamped "INLAND REVENUE / STAMPS / 4 OCT. 97 / NOTTINGHAM" and initialled. A unique proof of the first revenue cancel used at the Stamp Office at Nottingham. Photo on Page 32.
1920-28 Wilson covers to Manchester, franked 1½d and bearing railway letter stamps with 3d surcharges, comprising 1920 Manchester, South Junc. & Altrincham Ry 2d stamp with violet "THREE / PENCE" handstruck surcharge cancelled by violet "STRETFORD", and 1928 manuscript "3" surcharge on Cheshire Lines Committee 4d letter stamp cancelled violet "CHESHIRE LINES RLY. / BAGULEY, PHONE: 459 SALE" and date. Two scarce stamps on cover. (2).
½ Anna on 2a vermilion, manuscript surcharge with initials "A.B", used with 1893 (June 19) Melindi squared circle, fine and unique with this cancel. This stamp is specifically mentioned in the Krieger/Minns handbook. With a 1998 letter from John Minns stating the stamp is genuine, and offering to buy it for £500. S.G. 23, £1,300+. Kishangarh. 1917-18 Blocks of four with "ON/K/D/S" handstamps used, comprising 1904-10 perf 13½ ½a chestnut with double overprint on upper right and lower left stamps, omitted from the other two stamps; and 1913-16 rouletted 1a red with overprints on the upper left stamp and centrally across the lower pair, omitted from the upper right stamp, unusual. S.G. O18a, O30ac, var., £575. (2 blocks).
1940 Stamp Centenary ½d - 3d set of six in vertical strips of three, all affixed to a piece cut from the Mauritania Post Office U.P.U Specimen collection, tied by violet "SPECIMEN / COLLECTION/ MAURITANIE" handstamps. A unique archival piece, that proves these stamps were sent as Specimens to the U.P.U for distribution to member countries. (6 strips). Photo on Page 22.
Lord Howe Island. 1930 (Sep. 4) Cover addressed within Lord Howe Island franked River Murray Tercentenary 1½d with manuscript surcharge "2d Paid PM LHI" tied by a Lord Howe Island c.d.s. When the Lord Howe Island Post Office ran out of 2d stamps the Postmaster was authorised to surcharge 1½d stamps in manuscript; 260 stamps were surcharged and used between August 23rd and October 17th 1930. A fine and scarce cover (S.G. £750 as a single stamp). Photo on Page 68.

Manchester. 1905 (Dec. 18) Cover posted from Manchester to Leeds with QV 1d postcard cut-out tied by Manchester c.d.s, arrival backstamp, the stamp then tied by a superb strike of the violet oval "MANCHESTER / ADVANCE POSTED / CHRISTMAS 1905", presumably cancelled to order, nevertheless a scarce cancel and very unusual. 1840 (May 8) Small cover posted within London bearing 1d black TJ plate 1a, good to large margins, red Maltese Cross cancel and superb MY 8 datestamp on left flap (opened for display), also dated "8 May 1840" by the sender above the address, "Bond St. NO" handstamp alongside the stamp. Seal cut from the reverse and small closed file hole, an attractive use on just the third day of issue. S.G. £5,000. Photo on Page 6.

KEVII 1c single and pair cancelled by Perlis double ring bilingual c.d.s, 1c pair (faults) and 3c with single ring Perlis c.d.s, the 1c pair single ring c.d.s dated 25.8.05 and the 1c pair double ring bilingual c.d.s dated 22.12.1908, both during the Siam stamp period, the 3c dated 13.6.11 when F.M.S stamps were in use.
