A collection of original WWI Naval signals and telegrams concerning the surrender of the German High Seas Fleet 1918. The hand written telegrams with original Captain's Office red stamps dated 16 November 1918 contain the original terms of surrender from the Signalman's pad aboard HMS Repulse, while steaming to the North Sea rendezvous with the German Fleet. Almost all the signals on official Naval Signal documents are dated and timed and bear the official stamp of the Captain. The German Fleet was eventually escorted North to the Scapa Flow Naval Base of the Royal Navy, where the war ships were sent to the bottom, scuttled by their crews contrary to the Armistice terms. These signals, stipulating latitude and longitude, are a piece of Naval Wartime history. After the Battle of Jutland in 1916, when the German Fleet turned away and made its escape after inflicting considerable damage to the British Grand Fleet, the German warships never again met the Royal Navy in force. The lot also includes a type written notice from aboard HMS Repulse, signed by the Captain W H Boyle, dated 19th November 1917 and other ephemera for comparison.
