All on original mounts, 25 with Baldus’ signature stamp at bottom right below image, one with printed title and credit, one reproducing a watercolour drawing of an interior of the Luxembourg Palace signed V. Duval in negative, mounted on guards at left edge, titled in pencil at foot in English, contemporary embossed cloth, upper cover gilt-lettered as above, label of the retailer Maison Martinet inside front free endpaper. Oblong folio: 32.3 x 41.7 cm. (12 3/4 x 16 3/8in.). Prints: various sizes from 20.3 x 22 cm. (8 x 8 3/4 in.) to 21 x 26.8 cm. (8 1/4 x 10 1/4in.) or the reverse. The views include a panorama of the city, a view of the Seine, the Arc de Triomphe, Palais de L’Industrie, Place de la Concorde, Vendome Column, Tuileries Palace, Arch of the Carrousel, the Louvre, Tour St. Jacques, Hotel de Ville, Notre Dame Cathedral and other churches, the Bourse, Portes St. Denis and St. Martin, the Palais de Justice (with printed title), the Pantheon, Eastern Railway terminus and the chateaux of Versailles and Fontainebleau. A GERMAN SECOND WORLD WAR PERIOD BRASS HAND STAMP, with turned wooden handle and text with Luftwaffre motif. Provenance:- Acquired by a member of the Armed Forces stationed in Berlin during 1945 who had obtained it from a Russian Soldier who had supposedly taken it from the bunker in exchange for a quantity of cigarettes. Acquired from former owner who retired to Devon.
