Provenance: Charles E. Slatkin Galleries, New York; Jerrold Morris Gallery, Toronto Literature: Reported to have been exhibited in an exhibition of drawings, pastels and paintings held at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Oct./Nov. 1960. Note: This drawing is a preliminary sketch for the figure depicted in Morisot’s “The Bowl of Milk”. Today, the painting hangs in Monet’s home at Giverny. He purchased the painting in 1892. Theodore Robinson recorded in his diary the circumstances under which the painting was purchased by Monet in 1892.

Daniell and Son` retailer`s stamp to turquoise glazed base, diameter approx 24cm.

Ex Library copies with library stamp to the reverse of plates. The majority of the plates have stamps to the reverse with a smaller number having stamps to the plates proper. Library stamps are on indiscriminate pages throughout the 3 books. An interesting and curious 6 volume set. Only 2 copies mentioned in the British Library, 1 mentioning the final volume 6. 1 volume has spine cover and front board come away from text block. (3)
