GWR solid silver miniature tray with full Great Western Railway Twin Shield Coat of Arms and GENERAL STRIKE MAY 1926 TO Mr W.A. STANIER WITH THE GRATEFUL THANKS OF THE GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY CO. Measures 5in x 3.5in and hallmarked Birmingham 1925 Sterling silver. In excellent condition, weighs 135g and a must for not only the GWR Collectors but also the LMS ones as four years later Stanier was headhunted by Sir Josiah Stamp, chairman of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway to become the Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME) of that railway from 1 January 1932.

The plate mark is clear. Both pencil signatures are clear. The paper is slightly brown and does not sit quite flat. From the back it looks like there may have been damp at the top of the board. No visible rips or tears, but we have not removed it from the frame. Image 63 x 38cm. 74 x 49cm, Overall size with frame 120 x 90cm. Removed from a local house move in Sudbury, where it had been for many years.
