A mixed group of undated archaistic seals comprising: seven cylinder seals in crystal, lapis lazuli, steatite and other hardstones; two discoid stamp seals; a pyramidal stamp seal; an agate fusiform bead. 101 grams total, 18 - 64mm (3/4 - 2 1/2). A mixed group of bronze ingots comprising: a cup-shaped lock with stamp to the iner face; a plano-convex block eith stamp to the flat face; a waisted block with two stamps; a substantial disc with geometric design to one face, raised rim and incised text to the reverse. 1.4 kg total, 2.5-11.5cm (1 - 4 1/2). April 5th 1876 To Lady Egidia Rendlesham from Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge, Duchess of Teck, (mother of Queen Mary - consort of George V) Regarding the "humble offering of a frame" and other matters. Three handwritten sides of a folded headed notepaper, embossed with blue St James Palace insignia. Envelope written in another hand, no stamp. Three handwritten letters from Prince George, 2nd Duke of Cambridge. 1. November 18th 1877 To Lord Rendlesham from Prince George, Duke of Cambridge. Difficult to decipher, three sides of folded Gloucester House, Park Lane headed notepaper, penny red stamp. 2. February 14th 1878 To Lady Rendlesham from Prince George, Duke of Cambridge. Invitation to dine. One side of Gloucester House, Park Lane headed notepaper, no envelope. 3. December 21st 1886 To Lord Rendlesham from Prince George, Duke of Cambridge. Concerning military posts. Suffolk Corps. "I should be very glad to see a leading family man like yourself fill the position" Two sides of 'G' embossed notepaper, no envelope. A collection of three lengthy letters written by Lord Rendlesham's valet Teddie Wicks, in December 1923 whilst staying with his employer at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in New York. With interesting observations of drinking during prohibition, missing England and his dependence as a servant, on his employer's whims about whether to return to London in time for Christmas. One envelope, addressed to his sweetheart, Miss Flossie Lawrence, 23a St James St, S.W.1. With Grand Central Station postmark, 2 cents stamp. Also an earlier photographic postcard sent from Spain in 1916 and a letter card posted in Gibraltar dated February 1903. This is written to his mother in a very youthful hand when he was the valet to the Captain of H.M.S. Victorious which was stationed in the Mediterranean fleet. Also a handwritten journal, 16 leaves in pencil "Reminisces of a visit to Ireland, 1921" Opening paragraph: "Following a spell of unemployment in 1920 I was fortunate enough to succeed in getting a job as a mechanic attached to his Majesty's forces in Ireland owing to the uncertainty of the Irish labour and the trouble with the Sinn Fein." An interesting historical document. Other items, clothing coupons, newspapers; The Star, June 1st & 4th 1804 and January 4th 1812 etc.
