HistoryG.A.A.: Memorabilia, Croke Park [1914] A cast iron Turnstile, by Ellison & Co., Manchester, painted green with maker's stamp, the main body with shaped and cylindrical uprights, and rotating centre, now converted, with demi-lune wooden top, as is, w.a.f. (1)Provenance: Removed in the 1950's from Croke Park during renovation work and preserved until recently sold. A true relic from the Holy Ground of G.A.A. and Irish Sport, Croke Park. This Turnstile would have been witness to many thousands of supporters arriving from all corners of the country, most with hopes and aspirations for their home county. It was there during the rudimentary stages of the G.A.A., and stood firm during that infamous event in Irish history, "Bloody Sunday." A relic of the First Importance for G.A.A. and Irish History Collectors.

A Relic of EmpireShort Masses for Small Choirs. Mass in D Minor for Three Voices, Composed by [Samuel] Webbe Snr, the Organ part added by Novello. Oblong quarto, 84 pp music staves, possibly lacking title page. With oval stamp at p.21 of Royal Hibernian Military School, Dublin, dated 11 Jan [18]81. Strongly bound in hf. calf, titled in gilt, gilt rules to spine, v.g.The Royal Hibernian Military School was established in 1766 in a handsome building in the Phoenix Park. It catered for the children of soldiers, and prepared boys for the British Army. One of its last graduates was Liam Mellows, whose father (a serving NCO) wanted him to get a good military training. It is possible that he might have used this book. In 1922 the School withdrew to Folkestone. A rare survival from a vanished institution, part of the Empire on which the sun never set, until it did.

Italian School (16th Century) Drawing of Justice in a Niche, red chalk on paper, stamp bottom right corner, mounted and framed. Measurements 20 x 15.5 cm, frame 36 x 31 cm Condition report: The work is a drawing on paper, with scratched lines. There is an inventory number '115' top left in pencil and a stamp bottom right corner. The paper appears overall in stable condition with no obvious evidence for rips, tears or deterioration. There is some dark staining in the centre figure as well as ageing and surface dirt on the paper. Not examined external to the frame.

Measurements 41.3 x 57 cm, frame 64 x 79 cm Condition report: The print has some fading to the colours. The paper appears in good condition with no obvious signs of rips, tears or creasing. Not examined external to the frame. The frame has solid joints and has some minor signs of wear and tear.
