A George III-Style Mahogany Three-Tier Dumb Waiter, 20th century, bearing a Gillow stamp, of dished circular form with baluster and reeded turned support, on three cabriole legs with pad feetlargest tier 46cm diameter, 124cm highSome general surface scratches throughout each tier and also around the legs. Consigned from a good house contents with period furniture, though we believe the Gillow stamp is incorrect because of the date of the furniture. The quality of the timber too suggests it is not a Gillows piece - hence why the piece is catalogued as so.

Manner of Luca Cambiaso (1527-1585) ItalianDraped standing classical figure amongst clouds and cherubsInk and wash, with collection stamp PM, together with a further unframed sheet of studies in ink of a figurative subject matter, a group of approximately seven costume studies in the later 18th and early 19th century style, a vignette scale pencil sketch of elegant figures in conversation in the style of J Singer Sargent, two monochromatic landscape studies reminiscent of Pether, an indistinctly inscribed 18th century style study of a standing gentleman leaning on a sculpture plinth wearing a tricorn hat and holding a copy of "Paradise Lost", and an early 20th century illustration of a pixie amongst the roots of a tree, 24.5cm by 16.5cm and various other sizes, all unframed (a collection)
British School (Later 19th Century) Stringing a necklace - young lady standing in an interior Indistinctly signed, oil on canvas, 36.5cm by 26.5cm There is a canvas stamp to the reverse. Two keys are missing, and there is considerable dirt and debris behind the bottom stretcher bar. The canvas is lacking in tension, and undulating, bowing out on the right side. There is also a distortion from a push from the reverse mid right, the paint is slightly cracked but largely intact. There is one smaller raised push from behind to the left of the doll, which has had micro flaking. There is a lump of red material just above this stuck to the surface of the painting. There is a very fine brittle age craquelure throughout which is secure, and only slightly elevated in a few cracks to the top of the chair. There a few small patches of micro-flaking associated with movement of the canvas. The paint is fairly thin in places, possibly partially due to the painting technique, and there is old ingrained dirt and varnish in the troughs of the canvas weave. There are minor small scuffs and surface accretions. There are some cloudy areas in the darker passages, likely degraded old varnish. There is a fairly even surface gloss, but the varnish is slightly yellowed.
John Syer RI (1815-1885)"Neath Valley"Indistinctly signed?, oil on canvas, 64cm by 88.5cmThe canvas tacking margins are degraded and ripped in places at the reverse, with some splits and missing areas. There is an old stretcher, one key lacking, and the stretcher has battens affixed around the edge under the canvas. There is fair tension to the canvas, and an old restorers stamp to the back of the canvas. There is a fine brittle age craquelure throughout, and a few areas of impact cracking, all stable with no elevation or history of flaking. There is a more visually disturbing network of fairly broad drying cracks to the landscape. These are visible in reflected light. They have been suppressed in an old campaign of restoration, but said restoration has discoloured in places in the lighter forground and now appears darker than the original paint. There is also slight wrinkling of the paint, also associated with drying issues. There are incised scratch marks in the top right corner, which appear to have been done when the paint was wet. There is one old lumpy filled and retouched upsidedown 'L' shape loss in the sky top left, opaque/milky patches in places in the dark foliage, a few fresher white scratches bottom left, and some milky blotches to the mid left. There is some thinning to the delicate glazed paint of the foliage, and darker areas of rock, possibly reinforced with retouching. There is a fairly yellowed old varnish, fairly even, but with some shiny patches to the green mid-distance on the right. A light layer of surface dirt.
