A mid Victorian Valentine's card, of embossed and cut paper depicting figures beneath an arch and with a spray of coloured flowers and inscribed 'Affections Tribute, where 'eer it be thy lot to stray may every blessing strew the way' with plain envelope with penny red stamp and dated stamped Feb 13, 1863, and another Victorian Valentines card of embossed and cut paper with forget-me-nots and a verse, inscribed by hand and with elaborate envelope and penny red, date stamp for Feb 27th 1865.
A mid Victorian Valentine's card by Dean & Son, of embossed and cut design depicting Oriental figures on a terrace, amid exotic birds and botanical specimens, and with lovebirds and a hand painted floral spray with a scroll inscribed 'little more remains to be told', inscribed and with an elaborate envelope with penny red stamp (1808 cancellation mark), the date stamp for Feb 15th 1860.

8th-6th century BC. A carved yellow jasper stamp seal, scaraboid in form with intaglio design to the base of a standing lion-headed goddess with crown, ankh symbol to one shoulder and mace to the other, between two columns and two monkeys, ibex heads below, stars above; below, the Western Semitic text property of '-s-h, above, winged solar disc and bird with extended wings; accompanied by a museum-quality impression, ceramic replica of the seal and custom-made display stand. 99 grams, 74mm including stand (3"). Ex Christies 13th May 2003, lot 293. Fine condition.
3rd-2nd millennium BC. A discoid diorite stamp seal with one domed face, the underside with intaglio scene depicting a human with one arm extending to grasp an ibex with hound below, two more quadrupeds and a fish. 29 grams, 45mm (1 3/4"). Property of an Essex gentleman; acquired in the early 1980s. Cf. Collon, D. First Impressions. Cylinder Seals in the Ancient Near East, London, 2005, p.32-35. [No Reserve] Fine condition.
3rd-7th century AD. A mixed group of agate and carnelian stamp seals comprising: one conical with intaglio seated figure facing a figure with a staff, frond to the rear; one plano-convex with intaglio profile male bust, starbursts and two wings below; one similar, intaglio pair of opposed horsemen; one with bearded male bust; one with horseman within a border of pellets; one with bird with outstretched wings; one with standing bird within pellets; one with crouching rodent. 72 grams total, 11-29mm (1/2 - 1 1/4"). Property of a Warwickshire gentleman; formerly in the private collection of the famous actor Leslie Phillips; acquired 1950-1960. Born in 1924 in London, Leslie Phillips attended the Italia Conti Academy where he developed the slightly affected accent which became his trademark. He usually played a roguish, suave charmer, and also enjoyed successful comic roles in the early Carry On films and on radio’s The Navy Lark. He has appeared in more than fifty films, plays and TV series spanning six decades; and recently gained new fans through his appearances in the Harry Potter films. He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1998 Queen's Birthday Honours; promoted to Commander (CBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours. [8, No Reserve] Fine condition, some re-ingraving.

A mixed group of chop seals comprising: a square face with broad loop to the reverse, quartered face with four characters, paper slip with stamp; a rectangular face with pierced lug handle, three large calligraphic characters; a cube with integral loop to the reverse and cord, quartered face with rectilinear characters; a disc with pierced lug and cord, labrys-shaped face with two characters; a pierced silver dome with cord, paper slip with stamp, old collector's label with handwritten inked 'Early Chinese'. 90 grams total, 11-25mm (1/2 - 1"). A rectangular ingot with banker's stamp of two colums of characters impressed to sides and centre (three impressions) and two authorisation stamps of a single column of characters to ridges between. 173 grams, 59mm See Mitchiner, Michael, Oriental Coins & Their Values III: Non-Islamic States & Western Colonies, 1979, pp.524-527, for examples of the type. Extremely fine; stamp impressions clear.
