A 19th century French M1842 Gendarmerie sixteen bore percussion cap pistol with 41/2" barrel, inscribed to the lock plate, 'MRE RLE de Chatellerault', fitted with walnut grips and steel furniture, overall length 25cm.Condition Report: There is a split either side of the front edge of the lock plate and the lower portion that moves down to the trigger has had a slight patch repair with what appears to be some sort of resin filler to the upper split, heavy pitting notable to the breech end of the barrel, further splits, scuffs, scrapes, fading, staining, pitting etc visible throughout, indistinct blind stamp to the opposing side to the lock, centred with MR within two circular borders bearing various numbers, indistinctly numbered to the tang

A James I (1603-1625) third coinage, laurel gold coin, approx. 8.75g, diameter ranges from approx. 3.37cm to 3.45cm, thickness approx. 0.6cm.Condition Report: - There are signs where, in its history, it possibly had a soldered necklace mount. There is a small area that shows a silver spot and on the opposite side there is a part ring mark, at first it looks like a filled-in hole, but there is are no signs of silver solder on the reverse, so we would suggest that there could have been a counter stamp that was filled in. The silver area has been polished. Otherwise, good, clear, crisp detail.

Disney Donald Duck vintage doll, designed by Charlotte Clark, American, 1930s, in a rare larger 16" size, with applied oilcloth pie eyes, stitched eyebrows and mouth, nostril stitching has been lost (evidence of original stitch holes to beak), velveteen body, cotton sateen beak, cotton cloth legs, corduroy cap and jacket, black bow tie, four mother-of-pearl breast buttons, velveteen tail feathers (comprising three plush loops), large flat felt soled feet, discolouration to body overall, blue corduroy has faded, Good to Good Plus, 16"/40cm. NB: Body has been inscribed neatly above tail feathers: "GREETINGS TO MRS. McCORMACK WALT DISNEY". There Is NO PROVENANCE or any history as to the origin of this item (there is no label or stamp to the foot). Charlotte Clark was the American seamstress who designed the first Mickey Mouse doll in early 1930. Charlotte continued initially to produce hand-made dolls for Disney which were often given as gifts to friends and family; she also produced prototype dolls that measured 16"/41cm.

Autographs. An album of important autographs, including Charlie Chaplin, George Bernard Shaw, Sir Malcolm Campbell, and 20 members of the 1934 hockey teams Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs. Obtained by Winifred "Winnie" Taylor during her travels around the world in the 1930s. The first page of the album is inscribed & signed by John Boles (1895-1969), American actor best known for playing Victor Moritz in the 1931 film Frankenstein, 'To Winifred - It has been a pleasure and a treat to know you. Won't you come back and visit us again in Hollywood? Cordially, John Boles, 1934', plus a loose & worn publicity photograph signed by the same, the verso bearing stamps for Fox Films and cinematographer Otto Dyar. The second page features a mounted card inscribed with personal address by George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950), Irish playwright and winner of the 1925 Nobel Prize in Literature, together with a mounted photograph of Shaw on board the "Rangitane" [passenger liner owned by New Zealand Shipping Company], a loose photograph depicting Shaw signing for Winifred, the verso inscribed 'Bernard Shaw (signing my autograph album)', and a loosely-inserted photographic portrait of Shaw by Charles Troughton Clark, signed & dated 11 December 1934, the verso addressed & inscribed by Shaw, 'Thanks for the snapshot. Here is a fearfully serious portrait in exchange, GBS', stamped & postmarked Welwyn Garden City, 11 Dec 1934. One page is signed with 'Good luck' by Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977), one of the most important comic actors in the history of motion pictures. One page is signed by Sir Malcolm Campbell (1885-1948), British racing driver who gained world speed records on both land and water [Winifred was taught to drive by Malcolm Campbell], together with a loosely-inserted envelope from the same, 'Au Revoir, so sorry not to have seen you to say goodbye. Hope we may meet again in the future, M. Campbell', the paper bearing Cairn Hydro blind-stamp. Two pages are devoted to the NHL teams Toronto Maple Leafs & Detroit Red Wings, comprising 20 autographs obtained by Winnie during a journey between Vancouver & Banff on the Canadian Pacific Railway, 28 April 1934. Toronto Maple Leafs: Frank J. Selke [nine-time Stanley Cup Champion]; George Hainsworth; Francis King Clancy [considered one of the greatest ever NHL players]; Dick Irvin [coach]; Charlie Sands; Reg Hamilton; Ken Doraty; Charlie Conacher [considered one of the greatest NHL players]; Busher Jackson [tragic figure, considered one of hockey's greatest left-wingers]; Buzz Boll; Hap "Happy" Day; Andy Blair; Red Horner, and Harold "Baldy" Cotton. Detroit Red Wings: Herbie Lewis; Eddie Wiseman; Jack Adams [manager, only person to have won the Stanley Cup as a player, coach, and general manager]; Larry Aurie; John Sorrell, and Ebbie Goodfellow. Other signatures in the album comprise Robert Z. Leonard [film director]; Wallace Beery [actor]; Paul England [actor]; Ann Shaw Mundin [wife of Herbert Mundin, character actor]; William Collier Jr. [actor]; Richard "Skeets" Gallagher [actor]; Ricardo Cortez [actor], and Paul Lukas [winner of the first Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama]. The remainder of the album is blank/unused. Octavo, 21 x 15cm, leather-bound & gilt-tooled. Provenance: By descent of Winifred "Winnie" Taylor, the vendor's grandmother. Winnie travelled the world during the 1930s and obtained the autographs in this album during her journeys

Provenance: private local collection, purchased from The Curwen Gallery, London from the exhibition Twelve Lithographs by Barbara Hepworth, with original exhibition booklet and purchase note dated 1969Condition:The item is a lithograph, framed under glazing - not examined external to the frame. The sheet appears in generally good condition, full margins are present and the blind stamp visible to the lower left. There is some general ageing (browning) to the edges of the sheet, There are no obvious faults or losses to the sheet. The colours appear well preserved and the surface stable. The picture is still within the original frame- the glass has cracked to the lower right corner and both lower corner joints are loose.

Francis Lord of Dublin A 52-Bore Cannon-Barrelled Flintlock Box Lock Overcoat Pistol by Francis Lord, Dublin, 1760. 2¼" turn-off 2 ring barrels of 0.445" bore. Barrel and breech both numbered ‘1’ to the underside along with proof marks and maker’s stamp. Frame engraved both sides with borders & scrolls, with ‘F. LORD’ on lhs & ‘DUBLIN’ on rhs. Sunken frizzen spring & t/guard safety. Silver wire inlay in flat sided grip. Beautifully chiselled silver butt-cap with a lion leaning over a castle wall with cannon & balls below. Overall, 8.75”. The lhs of frame engraved with scrolled panel, the rhs panel with ‘T. RICHARDS’ within trophy. Swan-neck flint-cock, sunken frizzen spring, proof marks under breech with makers stamp in-between. A 16-Bore Flintlock Elliott Carbine and Bayonet, Drogheda Town Police. A proved round barrel of 28” (breech drilled on lhs) stamped with Irish census DR 167 on top. Ordnance lock, the tail marked ‘TOWER’, with crown over ‘GR’ and inspector’s stamp. Figured walnut stock with brass mounts, census DR 168 struck on butt plate, with ‘CORPTN OF DROGHEDA 5’inscribed on heel tang. Steel ramrod. Overall length 43¼”. Mainspring missing and sear broken. A .65"(17-Bore) Lovell's pattern 1842 Royal Irish Constabulary Percussion Carbine. A barrel of 25½" with B’ham proofs, lock inscribed with crowned ‘VR’ and ‘TOWER 1847’, with board of ordnance inspection stamp. Walnut full stock with brass mounts, sling swivels, the lower one screwed into the butt, Lovell's spring bayonet catch and stamped with broad arrow and BO, the butt tang inscribed "C 11454", steel ramrod marked "C10088", with correct pattern socket bayonet (locking catch missing). GWO & C (stock some wear and small fillings in one or two places, ramrod pitted). 42½" overall Leslie Martin notes: This gun was issued in 1848 to sub-Constable No.11454. (His 'colleague' 11453 was dismissed having committed some offence). Service record available.

Hollis Brothers of Birmingham A Rare 17-Bore 1848 Pattern Irish Constabulary Percussion Pistol by Hollis, Dated 1848. C-200. With plain barrel and action in one piece, the former stamped with Irish census number at the breech, the latter inscribed 'Tower 1848' on one side and with 'VR', a crown between, on the other, walnut grip with inspection stamp, steel t/guard, and stirrup ramrod. 4½” barrel. Designed by George Lovell and manufactured by Hollis Brothers, Birmingham. The only contract for this handgun was issued in 1847 for five hundred, for special issuance to the Irish Constabulary "...when serving in plain clothes on special duty." (British Military Firearms 1650-1850 Blackmore page 213) All of these bear the date "1848" and were also marked with Irish registration marks. 10” overall length. GWO

Rare Irish 14-Bore Tower Light Dragoon Flintlock Holster Pistol, c.1800. A fixed round barrel of 9.125” and 0.69” bore, with Irish census L-Y 9671 stamped to top of barrel. Bevel edged flat lock with line border engravings and ‘DUBLIN CASTLE’, GR cipher & board of ordnance inspection stamp, swan-neck flint-cock. One piece walnut stock with regulation brass mounts. Wooden ramrod. Was part of the Castle’s Armoury. Length 16”. Action working.

Proved 20¼” barrel stamped ‘DUBLIN P.W.G.’ (Port Water Guard) to top flat, ordnance lock, the tail marked ‘TOWER’, with a crowned ‘GR’ plus a board of ordnance inspection stamp. Walnut stock with regulation mounts completes with steel ramrod. ‘3133’ stamped on bayonet mount. Metalwork to a clean polished finish, several minor repairs to the stock. Overall length 36¼”. GWO

Thomas Pattison & Co. of Dublin A Cased Pair of Irish 50-Bore Silver-Mounted Flintlock Travelling Pistols by Thomas Pattison & Co., Dublin, No. 62, Dated 1802. With 3½” octagonal sighted barrels (some rust patination) each fluted along the angles, serial numbered and dated beneath, and stamped with Irish census numbers D-L 2669 & D-L 2670 on the left side, 0.75” octagonal breeches each with rectangular gold-lined maker's stamp between gold lines, gold-lined touchholes (replaced), tangs each engraved with a Martial trophy and starburst. Signed border engraved detente locks (engraved swan-neck cocks replaced) each with bolted safety, rainproof pan with frizzen roller. Figured half-stocks, chequered rounded butts, mounts comprising butt-caps each engraved with a flowerhead, slender t/guards each with a pineapple finial and engraved with a Martial trophy on the bow, gold escutcheons inscribed with owner's initials, starburst engraved silver fore-end caps, silver under-rib and ramrod-pipes, and ramrods each with iron worm. Overall length 8¾”. Both GWO. In contemporary relined and refitted mahogany case with some accessories including embossed flask, pincer mould, and turn screw, the interior of the lid with an original illustrated maker's label. See ‘A Directory of the Early Irish Gunmakers’ by D.J.W. Stroud, p.225.

Storekeepers date 1800. Overall length of 55”. A/F only holding half cock, mainspring weak.

Breech date stamp of ‘1803’. The steel frame engraved with borders to all sides, decorated on lhs with trophy banner signed ’FOWLER’, the rhs 'DUBLIN’. Ring necked flint cock, raised pan, safety lacking, concealed trigger. Walnut bag grip with silver decorated butt-cap. Overall length 6”. GWO
