Joannes, 1815.⁂ Rare first edition in Persian of the New Testament. It was translated out the Greek by Henry Martyn, and printed by the Russian Bible Society in St. Petersburg after Martyn's death.

Bailey, Spalding, Lincolnshire...1774' (ink inscription); Traquair House, near Peebles, Scotland, purportedly Scotland's oldest inhabited house.

A Comedy in Chapters, 2 vol., first edition in book form, [one of 1000 copies], half-titles, wood-engraved frontispieces and 9 plates by George du Maurier, vol.1 with B & F signatures in second and third state as usual (*B4 and F), advertisement leaf at end of each vol., foxed, vol.1 with small embossed W.H.Smith Library stamp to half-title and water-staining to some leaves and plates, mostly to outer margins, vol.2 with small patch of tissue guard adhered to frontispiece and severe staining to inner margin of p.220 and facing plate, old ink signature of George Wood to pastedowns and initials to head of half-titles, hinges weak, original red-brown cloth, upper covers and spines blocked in gold and black (primary binding), rubbed, spine ends and corners a little worn, [Purdy p.20], 8vo, Smith, Elder, & Co., 1876.⁂ One of Hardy's scarcest titles, first issued in monthly instalments in the Cornhill Magazine, from July 1875 to May 1876.

Churchill (Sir Winston Spencer) My African Journey, first Colonial paperback edition, maps and plates, occasional scattered spotting, front free endpaper with blind-stamp and ink inscription, upper cover mounted on stub, spine creased and chipped with some loss to lettering at foot, creasing to corners, rubbing and surface soiling, 8vo, 1908.⁂ A good example of a rare piece of Churchilliana. Cohen estimates that 903 copies of this edition in the card wrappers (internally identical to the first edition), were printed. Of those copies, due in large part to their delicate nature, as few as half a dozen copies have survived.

Australia.- Chevalier (Nicolas) N.Chevalier's Album of Chromo Lithographs, first edition, 12 magnificent chromolithographed plates after Chevalier mounted on thin card, all with printer's embossed stamp in lower right corner of mount and printed label on verso, a few plates with very light unobtrusive spotting, mounts a little soiled with a few small stains at edges, loose as issued in original half morocco over cloth folder with ties, titled in gilt on upper cover, old blue label "Henry Franks, Importer of Stationery and Fancy Goods, Agent for Mr. Chevalier, Moorabool and Malop Streets, Geelong" at head of inside board, rubbed and faded, spine reinforced, corners renewed, [Ferguson 17329; Wantrup 256], folio, [Melbourne], Charles Troedel, [1865].⁂ Rare views of Victoria and the first album of chromolithographs published in Australia. "A keystone in any collection of Australian plate books and no collection can be considered complete without it...'' Wantrup.

Gauci after Charles Bentley and 12 hand-coloured tinted lithographed plates by George Barnard, Coke Smith and P. Gauci after Bentley, engraved map with routes in red and blue, dedication leaf to the Duke of Devonshire with his arms printed in gold, list of subscribers, wood-engraved vignettes, foxed, title soiled and chipped at lower outer corner (also final plate), many leaves crudely reinforced at inner margin, ex-library copy with stamp to verso of plates, contemporary cloth-backed boards with original lithographed pictorial wrapper mounted on upper cover, rather worn and stained, rebacked, [Abbey, Travel 720; Sabin 77796; Tooley 447], folio, Ackermann & Co., 1841. ⁂ During this expedition Schomburgk discovered and then despatched to England the Victoria Regia waterlily. In 1840 he proposed the "Schomburgk line" - a possible border between British Guiana and neighbouring Venezuela.
