Musical Automaton of a Spanish Dancer by Roullet & Decamps, c. 1900 With Simon & Halbig bisque head impressed "S & H, 1039, Dep." and red "Wimpern" stamp, open mouth, articulated flirty blue glass eyes with mohair lashes, pierced ears, original dark brown hair wig, adult papier-mâché body with bisque hands, one raised aloft, the other resting on her hips, on velvet-covered base with single-air going-barrel movement causing the dancer to turn back and forth 45° on her right heel, while stamping her left foot, twirling the tambourine, swaying her head and glancing left and right, in part-original lace-over-satin costume and velvet bolero jacket, height 21 in. (53 cm), with RD stop/start. - Another example of this model was reputedly given by Tsar Nicholas II to Princesses Olga and Elizabeth of Greece in around 1900. Die Tänzerin steht auf einem samtbezogenen Sockel mit dem Federmotor, für Walzenspielwerk (1 Melodie) und Mechanik. Während die Musik spielt, dreht die Dame sich im 45°-Winkel auf dem rechten Bein, stampft im Rhythmus mit dem linken Fuß auf den Boden, dreht das Tamburin, wiegt den Kopf und schaut mit den Augen nach links und rechts. German Bird-Seller Pull-Toy, c. 1900 With Heubach bisque character head impressed "7" over square stamp, closed mouth, painted eyes, moulded hair, carved wood hands holding a domed metal birdcage and a bird perched on a staff, another cage on the boy`s back, on paper-covered wood base with back wheels controlling boy`s head and the bird on the staff, the front wheels controlling 3 bellows for chirping effect, in original costume, height 13 in. (33 cm), length 8 1/2 in. (21.5 cm). Deutsches Ziehspielzeug "Der Vogelhändler", um 1900 Biskuitporzellan-Charakterkopf von Heubach, geprägt "7", geschlossener Mund, gemalte Augen, geschnitzte Hände halten einen Vogelkäfig und einen Vogel auf einem Stab, auf dem Rücken des Jungen ein weiterer Käfig, auf mit Papier bezogenem Sockel, Speichenräder aus Gußmetall. Album of botanical watercolours decorative title page inscribed “Drawings from Nature by A.D.D. begining April 1821” with 31 skillfully executed botanical studies most captioned and dated in pen and ink with one drawn from the “Chief Justice`s Garden at Merville 1821” 30 watercolours over pencil with 1 pencil drawing including 5 later watercolours dated 1853-1864 possibly by a different hand 2 loosely inserted with one on wove paper watermarked 1852 occasional minor spotting and finger-soiling a collector`s ink stamp of indistinct intials surmounted by a gold crown [not in Lugt] pasted on back cover contemporary half morocco over marbled boards worn upper corner of spine damaged oblong 4to c.1821-1864. *** The drawing of a passion flower in this album is from the garden of William Downes 1st Baron Downes (1751-1826). He was one of the leading Irish judges of his day and resided at Merville House Dublin for several years. He was the Lord Chief Justice of Ireland from 1803 to 1822.

This version was first published as a facsimile plate in Le Parnasse Satyrique (Brussels 1864) on one folio sheet whereas in this copy it is on two 8vo pp. The two versions are otherwise virtually identical including corrections and underlinings of words and letters. The other manuscript material seems to be in other hands and together the volume forms a complete collection of all Baudelaire`s poetry available up to 1864 perhaps prepared by Baudelaire himself or his publisher Poulet-Malassis.
