Good Indian Fighting Sword Khanda, Late 17th or Early 18th Century, broad heavy single edge blade swollen towards the pointed tip, deeply struck with a trisula and 2 pellets within a circle, traces of engraved decoration at forte in the form of Ganesh, Durga and Hanuman, robust iron hilt of conventional form with broad ribbed knuckle guard, iron grip, cup-shaped pommel with tall octagonal section spike and fluted bud –shaped finial. Blade 79cms, overall 103cms. Good untouched condition and excellent age patina overall. Note: for similar stamp on a Lahori tulwar blade in the V&A see The Indian Sword, Rawson, 1968, Pl.44.
^ Good Quality 9 Bore Indian Percussion Gun, early 19th century, browned barrel with octagonal breech signed by the maker P.GIRARD with Jaipur Arsenal stamps JPR/EXR/2655, 85 41S97 X 473, chiselled ornament at step, flintlock lockplate engraved THOMSON with VEIC bale mark, 1802, and government inspector’s stamp, hardwood fullstock, brass mounts including decorated trigger guard, buttcap inlaid with ivory bands and pellets, chequered grip. Scottish Basket Hilt Sword of Military Type, mid-19th century, heavy plain straight single edge blade with Arabic stamp, regulation type hilt and iron scabbard with traces of plating, wire bound wooden grip with some reptile skin covering remaining. Blade 79cms. Re-Offered due to non paying bidder.
Unusual Regulation Pattern Naval Rating’s Hanger c.1850, subsequently adapted as a sword for the son of a serving army officer c.1890, curved single edge blade cut with a narrow fuller and struck with a government inspector’s stamp of 2 above a smaller 8 (Indian army?), the back edge stamped MOLE, regulation brass hilt with lion’s head pommel and bone grip cut with horizontal ridges, in well-made leather scabbard with brass chape and leather frog, the guard with leather safety strap. Blade 18”. Good untouched condition. See Swords for Sea Service, HMSO 1970 Pl.6 for pattern.
Elizabeth II 1827 Pattern Royal Navy Officers Dress Sword by Wilkinson, brass dish guard having fouled anchor with EIIR crown above. Fishskin grip retaining the original grip wire. Lion head top pommel incorporating the back strap. Blade with crowned cipher and foliage etching. Wilkinson Sword trade mark to the forte and spine numbered 110206 and with broad arrow stamp. WW2 German K98 Bayonet, with bakelite two piece grips (reverse grip cracked), waffenampt stamp to the pommel. Housed in black painted 1938 dated scabbard. Blued blade with fuller to back edge, blade stamped “8912 b” to one side and “43 crs” to the other. Accompanied by a 1943 dated British jungle Machete in rubberised scabbard and a Type 1 AK-47 bayonet in its scabbard. (3 items)
WW1 French Label Bayonet without quillon, brass handle. Cruciform blade remains in good overall condition. Stamped to the hilt “G41838”. Complete with the original scabbard. Accompanied by a cut down Turkish 1890 Mauser Bayonet with black painted scabbard. Turkish markings to the base of the blade and star with crescent moon stamp to the spine of the blade. (2 items)
WW2 Fairbairn Sykes 2nd Pattern Commando Knife, standard example with chequered one piece brass grip, oval cross guard with broad arrow stamp, stiletto type double edged blade measuring 16 ¾cms in length. Some surface staining and pitting to the blade. Housed in brown leather scabbard with brass bottom chape. Leather tabs missing from scabbard but the back section remains and has the elasticated cloth strap.
