A well modelled bronze figure of Napoleon, resting against a tree stump, wearing bicorne hat, cloak and boots, armed folded on his chest, legs crossed, with fragment of a wheel at his feet, signed “Sinedon” on base with small maker’s stamp of “Pinedo Paris”, integral base with cut off corners, height 28”, base 9½” x 9½”. A brass shoulder belt plate of the Independent Broadstairs Gunners, of slightly convex oval form, engraved with the Arms of the Cinque Ports and “Independent Broadstairs” around the top and “Gunners”below, within a border line, hook and 2 stud fastening, makers stamp “IT” on the back, 3” x 2-1/8”. A good French cuirassier officer’s sword, straight double fullered blade, 37½”, marked “....(partly erased) genthal 9bre 1814” on backstrap, gilt brass hilt, the guard with reinforced edges, knucklebow and 3 sidebars, cap shaped pommel, embossed at the ends and around the pommel cap with stylised vines, with maker’s stamp “Mangeaux a Paris” under the back of the guard, wirebound horn grip, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings. Good Condition, the hilt retaining approx 20% original gilt, dark patina to scabbard. Plate 67
A heavy cavalry trooper’s sword, c 1788, straight fullered blade 36”, with narrow back fuller, crown/4 inspector’s stamp at forte, steel half basket hilt, slotted guard with broad knucklebow with 2 sideloops, ovoid pommel with prominent stud, copper wirebound fishskin grip. Good Condition with dark patina to hilt (slight age wear to blade). Plate 67

Elwin, RM, GEF/last VF and in original card boxes; an “Arnold & Sons London” small metal box, the lid bearing WD arrow and 1915 stamp (Arnold & Son were makers of surgical items), 80mmx30mmx20mm; and a “Vigilant” trench mirror, VGC.. Note: Ernest Phillip Elwin, born Shanghai 9th Nov 1881, enlisted in London 21st Sept. 1914. Served with RND 2nd Expeditionary Force from 6.3.1915 to 30.8.1915, then invalided back to UK, Blandford 30.8.15 to 7.1.1916.
