Great image showing an energetic ice skating couple dancing a Viennese waltz with the smartly dressed man holding a young lady wearing a white dress and long gloves looking out and smiling to the viewer, the metal blades of the skates glistening on the ice below. The successful Vienna Ice Revue / Wiener Eisrevue (1945-1971) was based on Austria's figure-skating tradition and performed mainly by figure skaters from Vienna; in 1971 it was bought by their competitors Holiday On Ice and discontinued in 1973. Royal Crown Derby paperweight, Tug Boat, part of the ‘Treasures of Childhood’ collection, this is one of a limited edition of 250 commissioned by Goviers of Sidmouth to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II, red Royal Crown Derby stamp and printed marks on the base. In good condition with no obvious damage or restoration. (Please note: The miniatures were manufactured without stoppers)
A Victorian mahogany framed three-seater sofa by Howard & Sons, pale fabric upholstered, raised on ring turned squat tapering forelegs to deep brass cup castors, stamped Howard & Sons London, one rear leg with stamp number 11145 5494, w.190cm Height to top of arms/back 80cm, to top of cushions 55cm.Depth 85cm.Stands well, very good and structurally sound.Castors all appear good and original (rear castors stamped).Frame has a little bit of play when handled.With two evenly spaced bowed stretchers, otherwise sprung and springs are good.Timber supports with some general scuffs and age wear.Upholstery complete but very grubby and tired.Stamped leg is original.
