‘Glove Box’ - 1931 by Barringer, Wallace & Manners published by Huntley & Palmers, rectangular tin decorated in red and green and brown imitating inlaid wood, with ball-bearing feet, and Huntley & Palmers stamp on gold base, in the style of an elaborately inlaid Islamic wooden box or, as the Christmas catalogue of 1931 describes it 'a most artistic and useful tin of Moorish design'. The geometrical patterning recalls the design of the 'Syrian' tin of 1903 ;‘Wood & Ivory Box’ - 1931 by Huntley, Boorne & Stevens by Huntley & Palmers Tin in the form of an oriental wooden chest with a Hindu god on the hinged lid and imitation ivory bands, cardboard container in which this box was originally sold calls it simply 'Ivory Box', the catalogues, on the other hand, refer to it as 'Wood and Ivory Box' it is also suggested that it 'can be used for cigarettes'. Another tin, also called 'Wood and Ivory Box, was made around the same time, only in its case the decorations are Islamic rather than, as here, Hindu; ‘Olden Times’ - 1893 by Huntley, Boorne & Stevens published by Huntley & Palmers, an elaborately shaped tin, decorated with historical scenes on hinged lid, including an Elizabethan game of bowls and a court jester, the ornate shape of this tin was clearly popular as it was used for four tin designs in 1893 and 1894; ‘Ancient Lock - 1896 by Huntley, Boorne & Stevens published by Huntley & Palmer, rectangular tin with slightly embossed lock, handle and metal framework on simulated timber background, simulated wood-effect on this tin was popular in domestic interiors during this period, many wooden door and panels, for example, were painted in brown and painstakingly feathered with lighter paints to recreate the wood grain, (4)
1840 Doncaster Grand Stand Racing Ticket complete with a letter from the County Borough of Doncaster after Mr Michael Mason of New Zealand was granted free admission with the ticket in 1958 as a courtesy while visiting England, the ticket has intact the red wax stamp to the corner and is framed and displayed centrally with surrounding Doncaster Races Programmes and RP postcards, this comes complete with a variety of Horse Racing Related Memorabilia such as a 1981 Royal Ascot First Day programme, Newspaper, Holker Hall Horse Trials material, 1930s Holcombe Harriers Point-to-point Steeplechases, Card Tags, a Hackney Horse Society Judges Enamel Badge, and more, worth inspecting (#50)
Fine and rare early R. Brougham Pat 1894 extreme bulged face alloy wood - with hickory face insert and fitted with the original decorative shaft whipping and the original full length hide grip with thick under listing - all original c/w 2x recessed screws to hold the wooden face insert and unique back screw to the hosel to secure the shaft.
