A GEORGE III PASTE COLLAR NECKLACE AND A FRENCH PASTE RING CIRCA 1780The collar composed of eight graduating calibré cut white paste flower heads in silver closed back settings, with gold accented scrolled feathers between, with belcher link looped ends; together with a French white paste set ring, the circular panel set with graduated circular and cushion cut white stones, to shaped flared shoulders, the shank stamped with Paris généralité 1774-1780 poinçonSize/dimensions: 17.3cm long; finger size approximately J 1\2Gross weight: 45.8 gramsCondition Report: The collar has had repairs between nearly all links as originally it looks like the collar wasn't articulated, and may not have looked as it does now- there are a couple of channels behind the central flowerheads, there have been some losses of flower heads, as the flower heads to each side do not exactly mirror each other. One of the pastes to the side of a flower head has been repaired at the back. The belcher link chains are later, and the measurement does not include the chains. The ring has abrasion to the tops of the pastes, general wear to the setting from age and use. The stamp has rubbing but still identifiable. * RAF Cap. A post-WWII RAF officers cap, blue cloth with C. Bates tailors label, queen's crown cloth insignia with a brass eagle, brown leather sweatband inscribed Sqn Ldr E.W. Seabourne and with manufacturers gold stamp, together with a pair of RAF trousers, blue cloth and with tailor's label for John Hammond & Co (1922) Ltd, dated 1955, size 13, inscribed Seabourne QTY: (2)NOTE:Sergeant Eric William Seabourne (1919-2005) was born in Leyton and educated at Worthing High School, he joined the Auxiliary Air Force in 1935 and served with 601 Squadron. In 1938 he applied to the RAFVR and qualified as a pilot the same year and on the outbreak of WWII, he was posted to 9 FTS Hullavington.In May 1940 Seabourne was posted to 151 Squadron at Martlesham Heath and was then posted to 238 Squadron at Tangmere in June 1940. Seabourne had only three hours of training on Masters before flying solo in a Hurricane. After only seven hours of training he was declared operational (without even firing the guns). On 13 July he shared in destroying a Me110 and damaged two more in his first encounter with the Luftwaffe.He destroyed a Me109 on 8 August and two more on 13 August, in this engagement he himself was shot down in Hurricane I P3764, he was attacked by three Me109 and the aircraft was set on fire. He prepared to bale out but his hood jammed, then the aircraft turned on its back and Seabourne fell out, taking the hood with him. After a delayed drop of 16,000 feet, he opened his parachute, blew up his Mae West and went into the sea about seven miles south of the Isle of Wight. Seabourne was picked up by HMS Bulldog, and taken to the Royal Naval Hospital at Haslar. After a week, Seabourne was moved to Park Prewitt Hospital at Basingstoke, where he remained for seven months undergoing plastic surgery by Harold Gillies.

A rare Tunbridge ware burr yew wood, inlaid and print decorated writing box incorporating a drawer fitted for artists materials and another for sewing with label for 'Dunnetts Toy and Tunbridge Ware Repository ......', the sloping top with oval colour print titled internally 'Telemachus Relating His Adventures To Calypso' within quartered yew panels and multiple borders. The lid interior in original pale pink paper over a tray fitted with two inkwells with silver plated tops, stamp slant and pen dish before a hinged writing surface in original tooled velvet, the lower section in conforming paper with oval printed label 'Dunnetts Toy and Tunbridge Ware Repository No 3 Cheapside, London'. The sides with brass carrying handles, one fitted with a compartmentalised drawer with ceramic pallet, glass bowl and trays for paint cakes and other accessories. The other drawer fitted for sewing with compartments for reels, thimble, tape, complete with needle book, leather tool board with knife and tweezer earspoon and white wood silk winders, 37 x 32 x 16cms max.
