Several of these works also show either one or both of Louis Lermabert~s (1620-1670) sculptures, as the present work does. The two large sculptures depict L~Amour porté par un sphinx and are on the Parterre des Fleurs. They were carved in collaboration with Jacques Houzeau following a model provided by Jacques Sarazin. Aside from his sensitive and delicate pastels and oils, Lucien Guirand de Scevola is credited with being one of the first artists to devise military camouflage, together with Eugène Corbin and Louis Guignot in 1914 (1).
