A pair of Shelley early 20th Century Art Nouveau vases having hand painted violet flowers and ribbon decoration and borders. The vases raised on pedestal bases with inverted tapering bodies and rectangular rims. Printed and painted marks to bases. Green Shelley stamp with black painted 777 8178. Measures 15cm high by 9.5cm wide.
A quantity of Bassett-Lowke O gauge related items. Including; 2x Bassett-Lowke cardboard tubes, one labelled 'Planning an "O" Gauge Layout and containing track plans and track section templates, plus printed brickwork and 'litho papers' for scenic modelling and station accessories. The other tube with a good Bassett-Lowke postage label with Geo.V postage stamp and franking dated 14 Jan '52. Tube contains 4x scenic backgrounds in VGC with drawing pin holes to corners. Together with a 1950 Bassett-Lowke catalogue, 'Locomotives' by W.J. Bassett-Lowke, and a boxed hydraulic buffer stops. Plus a Leeds Model Co. Ltd. An unusual dagger jambiya of Persian form. Probably Ottoman, 19th century, curved DE watered blade 20cms with raised central rib, one piece ivory hilt, the front applied with tiny silver arrow heads and assorted cup-set cabochon stones mostly turquoise, pommel covered with a silver plate set with larger cabochon stones, in its silver sheath struck with an unidentified hallmark (perhaps a sah mark). G.C. (blade refinished). Note: See Kurkman p.64 fig 131 for a possibly related earlier sah stamp. Plate 4 £300-600
