Gibraltar. 1951 5/- black and deep carmine perf 13, FP2 R9/4 broken 'R', unmounted mint. KG VI Expertising Certificate (2012). This stamp was Lot 371 in our Auction #13 (November 2012) when it sold for £2100 against the then catalogue value of £1200. Now catalogued £2250 and not flattered by that figure. SG 129ba/CW 29d

1855 Perkins Bacon printing, watermark large star 1d dark green (SG 1), horizontal strip of six used by several "58" barred ovals (initially allocated to Robe), fourth stamp light creasing and fifth lightly cut-into at top, elsewhere good to large margins except very close at right of sixth stamp, a rare and impressive multiple
1841 (April) Trial printing (unissued) on Dickinson silk-thread paper, 1d red-brown plate 11 (SG 16, Spec DP22) lettered JE and clearly showing double letter 'J', margins all round, without gum and central horizontal crease as usual otherwise fine, an extremely rare and almost certainly unique stamp, cat £7,500
Inter-Island Mail: 1862 January 6, entire letter (partly cut down) from Trinidad to Nova Scotia, endorsed "Via St. Thomas & Bermuda", franked with Trinidad 1861 rough perf 1d tied by boxed "1" obliterator, rated "4" in blue with "5" h/s, two vertical filing folds one through the stamp, St. Thomas transit on flap
Proofs: 1941-44 "Arms", small group of imperforate proofs incl ½d block of 30 (6x5) in light green on thin slightly surfaced white wove paper with part inscription on reverse "STATES POTATO BOARD", this lightly cut into lower row, two units surface faults and another with red ink mark (from 1d?), 1d block of 30 (6x5) in scarlet on poor quality yellowish newsprint, this with much excess margin at foot, also 1d block of 20 in carmine on gummed wove paper (this heavily defective) and 1941 1d revenue stamp (as Barefoot 12) block of 30 (6x5) in issued colour on slightly surfaced white wove paper, this creasing and some soiling, largely fine except as stated and a most unusual group

Christmas card, the inside showing a scenic view outside a "Boer Camp, Bermuda", the reverse showing "Prospect Barracks, Bermuda", 1902 illus (Boer War. - Col. Plumer's Corps on the March to Mafeking") postcard addressed to the USA, stamp and part pmk removed leaving just BERMUDA from cds, a 2nd Battalion, Cornwall Regt. Bermuda, Christmas card, three further Boar War related postcards but without Bermuda connection and two photos of Boer War Prisoner's graves on Bermuda (8)

Combination Mail: 1919 August 1 envelope addressed to the USA, endorsed "SPECIAL DELIVERY" and franked with 1910-25 2½d"Ship" stamp and five USA 5c affixed in Bermuda tied by two Hamilton despatch cds's, on arrival the stamps are cancelled with CITY HALL STN oval cancels, with "Commercial", "AUG 5 1919" and "FEE CLAIMED BY OFFICE/OF FIRST ADDRESS" h/s's and green m/s "100" on the front, New York (Aug 4) cds on the reverse and "Non-delivery" h/s
1939 Five covers with 2s (first printing) "Keyplate" franking, one with additional 3d, all from Hamilton to Holland (stamp damaged), Switzerland, New York and UK (2), one of the latter (with damaged stamp) has "UNDELIVERED FOR REASON STATED/RETURN TO SENDER" h/s's on the front and "RETURN TO SENDER/Address Insufficient" on reverse

Three covers sent between November 1916 and December 1917 to the same addressee in London with m/s annotations on reverse stating the date of sending and that they were posted at Admiralty House, Bermuda, the first cover (stampless) with m/s "Detached from/Ship: no stamp/available" has a "CENSORED" h/s in green and "RECEIVED FROM H.M. SHIP/NO CHARGE TO BE RAISED" h/s in purple, the other two envelopes each have a pair of the GB KGV ½d green stamps affixed and "CENSORED" h/s in green or reddish violet, all the covers have the censors signature and different "dumb" cancels tying the stamps where appropriate, unusual
1918 March 18 stampless cover from a P.O.W. on Ports Ireland to the USA, with Hamilton cds, triangular "PASSED CENSOR BERMUDA 191" h/s (CM14) below in black and signature (censors?) in red, also a postcard "Bermuda, Old House, Harrington Sound" from the same sender addressed to the same addressee but without stamp or postal markings, an interesting cover which is dated almost 19 months after the latest date of use recorded in the Bermuda Specialised catalogue
