Carry On Armada (Jack) (1964) UK One sheet film poster, starring Kenneth Williams & Bernard Cribbins, folded, A- History: The British title for this poster was Carry On Jack. There is a Tripoli, Libya stamp faintly printed in the top right. This poster was probably created for British Colonies overseas (Tripoli was goverened by the British until Independance in 1951). 40 x 27in. (102 x 69cm)
An interesting WWI German East Africa envelope posted in Dar-es-salaam to an address in Tanga. The front bears an oval postmark inscribed DARESSALAM DEUTSCH OSTAFRIKA AND dated 3-7-16 together with a rubber stamp inscribed FRANKIERT MIT 7 1/2 h hand struck oval mark with the Imperial eagle in the centre & inscribed KAISERL DEUTSCHES POSTAMT DARESSALAM. the verso with postmark dated 14-7-16 indicating that it could not be delivered because Tanga was occupied by the Allies at this time. German East Africa was captured by the British during WWI and became Tanganyika with Dar-es-salaam the administrative and commercial centre. Postage stamps were withdrawn from sale on January 1st 1916.
