Main work by the Jesuit Alonso de Ovalle (1603-1651), historian and chronicler, born in Santiago de Chile, son of powerful Spanish landowners. The copy lacks the folding map of the province. The work printed in the same year in the Italian version, was only reprinted in 1888 (Santiago), with a circulation of 600 copies. The specimen has some imperfections, the most important of which are: excessive cropping, slight browning and handling; monogrammed stamp with a count's coronet, on the title page; the paper of the copperplate prints is of poor quality and some have small worm holes, most of them marginal. With the exception of the map, it is however complete, corresponding even to the collation indicated to us by Palau. Provenance: Library of Bernardino Ribeiro de Carvalho (lot nº 543 of auction nº 50 of Pedro de Azevedo), with its oval label (ex-libris) on the back cover. Roger Delgado, a signed (in red ink) 10x8 Antony and Cleopatra press photo from the 1972 film. The photo depicts Delgado as Soothsayer with Charlton Heston (unsigned) as Mark Antony. Two late 19th/early 20th century blush ivory vessels, both profusely decorated in heavy gilt, comprising a Royal Worcester 942 pattern bottle vase with slender flared neck and draping side handles, decorated with bamboo and shoots, height 17.5cm, the other a Crown Derby decanter of globe shape, with two small handles to the shoulders, with floral decorated pattern, red factory stamp to the base, height 14cm, also a small Italian glass decanter of globular form, yellow with white swirls, over painted with enamelled flowers and gilt band, height to top of the stopper approx 8cm, and a small silver plated trinket box of hexagonal shape, with frog on lily pad to the lid (4). CONDITION REPORT The Royal Worcester bottle vase has been repaired at the neck.

CROWN STAFFORDSHIRE; six rare Art Deco hand painted pottery table salts in the form of winking birds, all brightly painted, marked with factory stamp to bases (each lacking lid), height of each approx 5.5cm, together with a Clarice Cliff Wilkinson Pottery 'Mr Puddleduck' figure, marked 'Wilkinson England', an identical unmarked example, and a further smaller example unmarked, height of tallest 12.5cm, height of smallest example 10cm (9). CONDITION REPORT The Puddleduck figures are often seen with the Duck Egg set.
ROYAL DOULTON; a rare early figure HN1324 'The Fairy', depicting a young girl with brightly-coloured butterfly wings, resting on a stone plinth, with Doulton stamp to base and hand written details, height 16cm, issued 1929-1938, Style 1, multicoloured wings. CONDITION REPORT There has been an old repair to the wings that has gone all the way through, but appears to be intact. The line of the repair to both sides is visible, but it appears to be solid.
