Great Britain - Officials : (SG O11) 1884-88 INLAND REVENUE £1 brown-lilac (Crowns), DA, ovptd. SPECIMEN, Type 11, an incredibly rare stamp without 'specimen' overprint which catalogues at £75,000 and will cost tens of thousands of pounds to add to a collection in non specimen type - most collectors with a budget collect a 'specimen' ovpt example as this is practical and more affordable and even then can still cost thousands. This is a genuine facially fine example, thinned behind upper 'A' corner (front of stamp is unaffected) and then repaired/piece added on reverse, good colour, l.m.m. RARE. Catalogued as normal £75,000, Cat £5500 (image available)
Great Britain - QV (line engraved) : (SG G1) 1880 PLATE 225 ON COVER 1d red plate 225, on a pretty neat envelope (January 7th 1880) Bournemouth to Torquay, with Bath transit and arrival cds's on reverse. This was probably the very last use of this rare plate before the 1d Venetian red stamp was put into circulation that same week; a very desirable cover in fine condition. (image available)
