WW1 British Derby Scheme Armband, khaki wool example with red felt crown to the centre. General service buttons to the reverse and interior stamped with Army Council ink stamp. Accompanied by an embroidered pre-WW1 tunic shoulder board of the 3rd Volunteer Battalion East Surrey Regiment. (2 items)
Very Rare Original Suffragettes “Holloway Brooch” Given to Suffragettes who Took Part in the Infamous Hunger Strikes at Holloway Prison, the silver brooch is in the design of the portcullis which represents the Houses of Parliament, laid to the centre is a convicts arrow which has enamelled the three colours of the organisation (green, white and purple). Hanging from each end is a linked chain which is said to represent prison chains. Reverse has brooch fitting and is stamped “SILVER” and with makes stamp “TOYE & CO LONDON”. Brooch remains in very good condition with just some light scuffing to the enamel. This brooch was designed by Sylvia Pankhurst, it was awarded to Suffragettes who were imprisoned at Holloway Prison for militant activity with the Women’s Social and Political Union and were involved with the famous hunger strikes. These broches were first presented during a mass demonstration at the Albert Hall on 29th April 1909.
WW1 British Generals Peaked Cap Belonging to Sir William Pulteney GCVO, KCB, KCMG, DSO Commander of III Corps on the Western Front, Playing a Significant Role in the Retreat from Mons, excellent quality dark blue worsted material, red centre band, with gold bullion General’s insignia, black patent leather peak with gold bullion oak leaves, removable khaki cotton cover, missing leather chinstrap and Generals gilt buttons. Gold embossed ‘Hill Bros. 3, Old Bond St. W.’ stamp inside. Old label with handwritten inscription ‘Lt.General Sir William Pulteney’ attached to cover. Very slight wear to the khaki silk sweatband and some tarnishing to the gold braid, otherwise good condition. Sir William Pulteney (1861-1941), GCVO, KCB, KCMG, DSO, had joined the Oxford Militia in 1878, transferring to the Regular Army, Scots Guards in 1881, serving in Egypt at the Battle of Tel-el-Kebir, and later in India. During the Boer War he took part in the Battles of Belmont, Enslin, Modder River & Magersfontein, finishing the War with the rank of Colonel. Pulteney had an extensive operational career during WW1, commanding the III Corps on the Western Front continuously from 31 August 1914 through to 19 February 1918. Pulteney commanded XIII Corps in the United Kingdom from 20 February 1918 to 15 April 1919.
WW1 British “B” Pattern Brodie Steel Helmet, being the shell re-painted at some point, complete with its original liner system with pink stamp underneath the oilskin. Brown leather chinstrap fitted, however this has probably been replaced from another helmet. Comes with a ined label indicating its history; Accompanied by two WW1 British relic helmet shells recovered from WW1 battle fields with labels detailing their history. (3 items)
WW1 British Wiltshire Regiment Other Ranks Pattern “Brodie” Steel Combat Helmet, untouched example of a 2nd pattern Brodie steel helmet with remains of painted insignia of the Wiltshire Regiment and a battalion bar to the side. Helmet retains much of its dark finish but also is quite heavily surface pitted. Interior is complete with the original oilskin liner system with pink brodie stamp to the underside. Chin strap attachment fittings in place with split rivet. Inside the helmet is a paper section which states, “STEEL HELMET WORN BY T M LAWSON WHILST ON ACTIVE SERVICE IN FRANCE IN 1918”. Overall a good untouched steel helmet.
WW1 Imperial German Artillery Pattern Long Barrelled Luger Holster, in brown leather with the original securing strap to the front. Makers stamp to the underside of the flap and date but this is not very clear, possibly 1916? Stripping tool pouch and cleaning rod pouch absent. Two rear belt attachment straps present. Some scuffs to the leather but generally good condition.
Prussian Model 1889 Infantry Officers Sword, fine example with swept brass knuckle guard hilt having Imperial Prussian eagle to the centre. Sharkskin grip with cipher of Wilhelm II to the centre. Complete with its original scabbard having single hanging ring. Straight plain single edged blade having double central fullers. Imperial acceptance stamp to the edge of the blade. Some spotting to the blade but generally still good condition. The blade measures 81cms, overall 100cms.
Imperial German Other Ranks Artillery Pickelhaube Trench Cover, field grey cloth trench cover with green felt “44” to the centre. Leather panels to the interior by the side opening for the allow of the chinstrap to sit over the top. Ink stamped to the interior “FAR 44”, dated 1915 and with size stamp 57. Complete with fixing hooks.
Third Reich SA Dagger by Scarce Maker August Merten Ww Solingen, standard pattern dagger with striped back wooden grip having aluminium eagle inserted and enamel SA device. Top and lower handle fittings are loose. Housed in its original anodised scabbard with both top and lower chape. Blade with motto “Alles fur Deutschland”. Reverse of the blade has the makers stamp for August Merten Ww Solingen. Some staining to the blade but generally still in good condition. Blade measures 22 ¼ cms, dagger overall 37cms.
Third Reich SS Officers Chained Dress Dagger, fine example of a 1936 pattern SS officers dress dagger having black ebony grip with eagle and early copper based enamel SS runes inserted. Un-marked top and lower grip mounts. Scabbard having hanging chains with SS runes acceptance stamp to the reverse. Attached to the grip is a replaced officers dress portepee. Near mint condition blade which retains much of the original polish and cross graining. Correct un-maker marked blade. Etched motto “Meine Ehre heist Treue”. Some small dents to the lower scabbard mount but generally a very good example of an SS officers dress dagger.
Luftwaffe 1st Pattern Officers Dress Dagger by Carl Eickhorn, nickel silver mounted example retaining much of the original gilt wash to the mobile swastikas in the pommel and cross guard. Blue leather covered grip retaining the wire binding. Leather covering to the scabbard with nickel silver mounts. Original chained hanger with clip being un-marked. Some leather missing from the scabbard. Double edged blade having acceptance stamp and Carl Eickhorn Solingen makers trade mark. Blade tip has been rounded. Blade measures 29 ½ cms, overall 48cms.
