A fine silver & leather boxing belt, dated 1902, hallmarked London, 1902, maker's stamp for A. Tysall, Farringdon, the brown leather belt applied with various silver plaques, the central example cast with two boxers and inscribed PRESENTED BY EDWARD HART ESQ., MEMBER OF TATTERSALLS, TO JACK SCALES OF LONDON WHO DEFEATED BEN TAYLOR FOR THE HEAVY WEIGHT CORONATION CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE NEW ADELPHI CLUB, ON JUNE 25TH 1902, flanked by a pair of plaques cast with a lion, union flags & English roses, further flanked by a pair of roundels one cast with Scottish thistle, the other Irish shamrock, the belt terminating with half roundels when clasped forming a circle of Welsh daffodils, the reverse lined with green baize, in a glazed hinged wooden display case (with key) lined with green velvet & gold metal thread borders, the belt 90cm., 35 1/2in., the case 100 by 34cm., 39 1/2 by 13 1/2in.
A manger from the Royal Stables at Ascot Racecourse, maker's stamp for Coates & Green Ltd. of Halifax, the brown glazed corner-fitting stoneware manger suitable for feeding and watering, with drainage plug and waste pipe release at ground level, mounted on a curved, white glazed ceramic tiled frame, the manger secured to the stable wall by four bolts, height 109cm., 43in., width of manger 91.5cm., 36in. This manger will be made available for removal from the Royal Stables by arrangement with Ascot Racecourse and at the expense and risk of the buyer. A British Cavalry officer's sword, 1908 pattern, the straight 35 inch steel blade by 'Ranken & Co Ltd, India', the other side with approved stamp, each side with GR cypher amongst foliate engraved decoration, the engraved plated steel hilt with fish-skin covered grip and plated steel pommel, with leather-covered scabbard and frog; and a 1796 Light Cavalry sabre, the 31.75 inch curved blade stamped 'Osborn & Gunby', with steel stirrup hilt, wire-bound leather grip and steel scabbard, re-gripped and extensively polished, (2).

Thompson, President of Manchester Chamber of Commerce, thanking him for his letter which has given him much pleasure, asking him to convey to the Board his appreciation of the resolution they have sent him, expressing his enjoyment of his Manchester visit, '...and I was particularly glad to come during your period of office. It has been a notable one, and the efforts to restore Lancashire's trade, in which the Manchester Chamber of Commerce under your presidency has played so consideable a part, have created a new hope', red ink receipt stamp at head, sm. pen and pencil reference marks top right, several folds, 1 page, 4to.
