Vintage Champion Bronco Buster California Brass Belt Buckle by Tiffany Studios, New York, stamped Tiffany & Co. Well, apparently, Tiffany and Co. never made Belt buckles. These imposter pieces were created in the 1960s or so, made to look like they from the mid-19th Century, and were sold as authentic. What is surprising, is that even after their cover was blown, collectors still wanted them. There were even reproductions, meaning there were fake, fake belt buckles. Well, if my research is correct, the markings on the back, the Tiffany & Co stamp, marks this as an authentic fake, if that makes sense. Tiffany Studios New York is also marked near the loop. Whatever the case, it is a cool belt buckle, depicting a Bronco riding Champion in the midst of completion. Measuring approx. 3 15/16 by 2 3/8, this buckle is in very good condition, showing only very minor wear from age and possible use. Overall, a good looking Belt Buckle, with an interesting story and history. Perfect for collectors of unique belt buckles. Would certainly make for a good conversation piece. Good condition. All signed items come with our certificate of authenticity. We combine postage on multiple winning lots and can ship worldwide. UK postage from £3.95, EU from £4.95, Overseas from £6.95

Esemplare senza legatura. Adams D-825; Mortimer Italian, 166.4° (190x140 mm). [4], 120 leaves. With 54 woodcut illustrations in the text, some full-page, and one woodcut vignette on each title pages of the work. Light foxing, soiled and browning. Eighteenth-century half-leather, marbled paper on the covers. Detached spine on the upper hing. ADDING: Id. Inferni... Libro secondo dei Mondi. In Vinegia: Per Francesco Marcolini, 1553. 4° (200x155 mm). 224, [8] pages. Woodcut printer's device on title pages and numerous woodcut illustrations in the text. Soiled the title page, waterstain on the lower margin of the first quires and some foxing. Without binding. Blind-tooled and ink stamps on title page and on the verso of the title page Harvard University Library stamp. First edition of both volumes componing the two parts by which are composed the Mondi del Doni. The work, considered one of the first italian renaissance utopias is certainly debtor of the Utopia by Thomaso More, which Doni himself published in the Ortensio translation of 1548.

Garrison-Morton, 6146: "The chapter on labour ("De partu") in this book represents the first original work on obstetrics to be published by an English author."12° (132x79 mm). [36], 415, [5] pages. Minor spots and stains to covers and spine. Ownership stamp to the verso of the rear flyleaf 'Prof. Giuseppe Franchini'. Famous counterfeit, appeared only few months after the original first edition of 1651, of Harvey's most important work on conception, embryology, and birth, the text of the chapter De partu being the first original English work on obstetrics. "After the publication of De motu cordis, Harvey turned his attention to the study of generation. Even if Harvey had not discovered the circulation of the blood, his remarkable work on embryology would have placed him in the front ranks of biological scientists. Without benefit of the compound microscope, his work was necessarily limited; nevertheless, nothing comparable had been done since Aristotle. He disbelieved the previously held doctrine of 'preformation' of the fetus, maintaining instead that it proceeds from the ovum by gradual building up of its parts" (Heirs of Hippocrates, 271). Garrison-Morton, 6146: "The chapter on labour ("De partu") in this book represents the first original work on obstetrics to be published by an English author."
