They figure Zabaglia`s helps for the construction of buildings on the basis of Saint Pieter`s edification in Rome where he worked and showed up his creativity by inventing new machines and sort of scalffodings. Some of them also represent technics for the obelsik transport in Vatican. All of them are described in Latin and in Italian. no. Cicognara 968; no. Johann Hertzog, also known as Johann Hamman, native of Landau in Germany was mainly active in Venice between 1482 and 1509. In the years 1492-1493, he published the "Tabulae astronomicae" by Alphonsus, the "Ephemerides" by Müller and three liturgical works ("Breviarum Eboracense", "Missale Romanum" and "Officium B.V. Mariae"). In 1504, Gerard Cluen of Amersfoort edited in London, in cooperation with Francis Byrckman from Cologne, a "Missale ad usum Sarum" which was printed in Paris by Wolfgang Hopyl. Typography in red and black on two columns, some large initials with pen, handwritten running titles and manuscript index and notes in Latin on the last four leaves. no. In-f° : [56] pp.-1424 columns, [2] pp. (waterstains +/- browned all over the edges, last O4 [blank] lacking). Contemporary binding : calf on wooden boards fully covered with blind tools, blind tooled ribbed spine, one (of 2) metallic clasp (joints split, big lacks of leather on the spine, turn ins lacking, blunt corners, dampstain on the upper side, fore-edge titled). Est. : 400/ 500 € Certainly one of Budé`s most famous works (1st ed. : 1529). The great French humanist Budé (1467-1540), one of the most learned Graecist, had planned to compose a large Greek dictionnary. He succed with this work considered as quite perfect. These are notes collected for a lexicon requested by Erasmus and later abandonned by Budé. The thousands of lexicographical notes in Greek and Latin intended for young scholars who wanted to learn Greek were finally edited by the Belgian humanist Josse Bade in 1529. It became in fact the founding-stone of Estienne`s famous Thesaurus. The dedication to François the 1st of France is in Greek typography. The woodcut printer`s mark on title-page depicts a man prisoner under a big paving stone in a palm tree and has been attributed to Hans Holbein the Younger and carved by his brother Ambroise. no. Because he had been very affected by the Religion Wars and the iconoclasts who had destroyed his church, he decided to write this work to encourage the clerics to observe scrupulously the religion precepts and to give good example to catholics. no. William Brown, Canadian/British 1953-2008- "On the Beach"; acrylic on panel, signed, titled and dated `93 on the reverse, bears artists stamp on the reverse, 33cm dia., (may be subject to Droit de Suite) Provenance: with Art Gallery of Peel according to exhibition leaflet attached to the reverse Note: William Brown found inspiration in the myths and stories of the Welsh valleys. His work is full of metaphor and magical legends, the Venus of Blaengwynfi, allegorical beasts, the Mari Lwyd and the Welsh Valley. Brown exhibited with the Welsh Group of artists and, for a time, with 56 Group Wales. He showed work in major public galleries in both Wales and Canada, as well as in the Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, South Korea and Switzerland.
