A late 19th Century French lacquered brass cased carriage clock with eight day movement repeating on a gong, the back plate with maker`s stamp of Margaine, the silvered dial with matt gilt chapter ring pierced to display black Arabic numerals, the glazed case with reeded swing handle and canted corners, on bracket feet, height approx 18.5cm, with winding key.
An Edwardian Neoclassical Revival mahogany work table by Edwards & Roberts, profusely painted with panels of cherubs, classical figures, urns and foliate scrolls, crossbanded in rosewood within borders of ebony and boxwood stringing, the domed lid above a single drawer, bearing maker`s stamp and applied label, the stand raised on square tapering legs and spade feet, height approx 98cm, width approx 54cm.

A Victorian Martini-Henry Mark II Rifle, the 82.5cm steel barrel with Birmingham proof marks, stamped 52/20, J.K.L., 52 HENRY`S PATENT A & T 2497, right side of the barrel and the left side of the action with ZAR (Zuid Afrikaans Republic) 4226 markings, walnut full stock with two sling swivels (swivel from trigger guard removed), the right side of the butt with maker`s roundel stamp and two incised X`s (kill marks), with steel cleaning rod **The ZAR number 4226 shows that this was one of the rifles sold by the British to the ZAR, and identifies it as arriving at the Pretoria Central Magazine in September 1889 (See Ron Bester`s book ``Boer Rifles and Carbines of the Anglo-Boer War). Such rifles were supplied to the Boer Militia and often used against the British in the Boer War ten years later

All, but three telegrams bear the Captain`s red stamp and date and time, from 12th November 1918 to 26th November 1918. These telegrams dictate the terms of surrender, longitude, latitude, the disarming of torpedoes and aircraft, together with a curt note warning the German authorities of the consequences of their ill treatment of British prisoners-of-war. Also three Earlier Telegrams of Congratulations and a Typed Note of Congratulation to the crew from the Captain of HMS Repulse, all dated 19th November 1917 **The German High Seas Fleet were escorted to Scapa Flow, where, contrary to the terms of the Armistice, most of the fleet was scuttled by the German crews

Ernest Albert ANA, American 1857-1946- Boats in a harbour with mill; oil on board, signed, 24.5x19.8cm Provenance: with Fenwick's, 263 Sierra, Reno, Nevada, according to stamp on the reverse Note: Ernest Albert was born in Brooklyn, NY. Albert began his career as a scenic painter and theater designer for the Brooklyn Theater. Founder of the American Society of Scenic Painters and was a member of many art associations including the New Canaan Society of Artists, the Chicago Society of Artists and the Grand Central Gallery. His work was shown in selected exhibitions at Vose Galleries in Boston and Rockefeller Centre in NYC. During his lifetime, Albert exhibited at the Brooklyn Art Association, the St. Louis Sketch Club, the New Canaan Society of Artists, the Highland Park Art Museum, and the Grand Central Art Gallery. CONDITION REPORT: mounted in a glazed gilt moulding frame, circa mid-20th century paint surface suffers from pronounced craquelure and cracking this is particularly apparent in the upper half of the composition there is a very severe horizontal crack in the centre of the buildings in the foreground small amount of associated flaking and loss upper centre left otherwise in fair to good condition
