India - Sind Province. 1852 `Scinde Dawk` ½a scarlet embossed on sealing wax, tied to small piece by neat diamond of dots cancellation. With SG sales card, which states; ""A near perfect example, free from the cracking and surface flaking which afflict the majority of surviving specimens. A true rarity in such fine condition.... Despite its catalogue number (it) has the distinction of being the first postage stamp issued on the continent of Asia, and the only British Empire postage stamp ever to employ this method of production."" India. 1855 4a blue and red horizontal pair from third printing, Head II, Frame I (Jatia Stone B, positions 11-12). Margins all round save just touched at the top of #11, lightly cancelled by diamond of dots. Fresh, very few pairs of this stamp are recorded. Ex Kimber (Robson Lowe 7.3.56). SG 21a (£13000)
India. 1855 4a blue and red single from third printing, Head IIIa, Frame I (position 2), cancelled by light diamond of dots. Just clear at right, otherwise large margins with wavy line at left. BPA Certificate (1997) mentions a thin spot at lower right; SG sales card states, ""we believe (it) to be part of the watermark."" A rare and most attractive stamp. SG 21b (£3250)
India. 1854 2a green (a light shade) in a wonderful horizontal strip of seven with part sheet margin at left, positions 49-55, each stamp individually cancelled by `85` numeral of Belgaum. All save the left stamp show a portion of the large circular sideways `STA(MP OFFICE)/One Ana` watermark. A little ink affects two but a rare and most attractive strip, ex D.C. Gray. India. 1921 9p on 1a rose-carmine mint interpanneau pair, top stamp (unmounted) with overprint double; the lower stamp with overprint double, one albino, this variety uncatalogued. Lower stamp with a minor adhesion on reverse, upper stamp with a slightly short perf. BPA Certificate (1994) and original SG sales card. SG 192c var.

India. Officials. 1884-5 `reprints` of the overprinted Fiscal stamps. SG O15 with green overprint/surcharge, with gum, poorly mounted and with a thin spot. RPS Certificate (1992). India. Officials. 1874-82 2a yellow and 8a rose in right-marginal mint blocks of four with part inscriptions, each handstamped `SPECIMEN`. The selvedge of the 2a is discoloured and there is some faint staining on the 8a block, the top right stamp of which has several trimmed perfs; an attractive pair. SG O33s, O35s
Jamaica. 1938-52 5/- `Isle of Wood and Water`, an extraordinary collection mounted on black FG `Graduate` leaves. Predominantly mint, but includes dated used to corroborate the printings as identified (each stamp is allocated to a printing). A number of constant plate varieties are noted and their development/repairs are traced. Commences with a Specimen and a bromide. There are five complete panes of thirty, two being perf 14, nineteen Plate blocks of four or larger and eighteen further blocks with many pairs and singles. We also note four fine used line perfs. New Zealand. Officials. 1940 Centennial, the values with joined `ff` varieties, mint; ½d, 1d, 2d, 4d and 6d in pairs lightly hinged on the selvedge only, 2½d in marginal strip of three with one normal stamp lightly hinged, and the 3d and 8d in unmounted singles. SG O141a-149a (£651)/CW O38-45
