He exhibited at the 1862 International Exhibition in London and the firm subsequently moved a further two times to larger premises. By 1880, the firm was manufacturing 500 watches a week and by 1898, they had opened a retail shop in London. This particular model, apparently known as ‘the rabbit killer’ due to its size and weight, was possibly made for the Boer War.
