Michael Cardew (1901-1983) a brown-glazed mug, possibly a trial, made at Abuja in Nigeria, 9.2cm, impressed MC and Abuja seals, incised JP2, together with a Winchcombe Pottery jug by Ray Finch, mottled glaze, 14.3cm, WP stamp and a small bowl by Sid Tustin, simple yellow squiggle on a black glaze, 14.5cm diameter, impressed potters mark ST and another Winchcombe jug with resist decoration (4)/Provenance: from the Henry Sandon Study Collection CONDITION REPORT: The Cardew mug with some chipping and losses to glaze all the way around the upper rim, some similar light chipping at the edges of the handle and to the glaze at the base beside the footrim. The Finch jug with very slight chipping to the rim of the spout, the small Tustin bowl in good order, with two very small firing faults to the glaze at the edge near rim. With a chip to footrim (possibly occurring at time of manufacture) approx. 1.8cm long, some linear markings to glaze issuing from lower handle terminal which occurred during manufacture. Some minor wear to glaze at the upper rim and to the body.
