1920, 10c. "Tilted Plane", a very fine and well centred example tied by "CCNA/Cartagena" oval, used on postcard from Cartagena to Barranquilla on the First Flight, upfranked, according to the stipulated 1 1/2 centavos postal rate for postcards, with diagonal half of National Post 3c. which was applied adjacent to the vignette, both tied by "Correo Aéreo./Cartagena-Colombia." c.d.s., and 23 February receipt large c.d.s. of Barranquilla also tying the franking. One of the 10 items known with this vignette carried on this flight; the fascination of this postcard is greatly enhanced by the extremely rare usage of a bisected National Post stamp, of which only two examples are recorded accompanying a C.C.N.A. vignette. Signed Calves. Scott C4. Ex Augusto Peinado.
1920, 10c. "Lighthouse and Biplane", featuring "-30 CVS.-" surcharge, very fine and fresh on cover front addressed to Luis Octavio Gómez, tied by "Cía de Navegación/Aérea/Agencia Barranquilla" ribbon handstamp in purple and handstamped "22 FEB 1920" date adjacent, showing, at left, manuscript text by Mr. J. Soto "Recuerdo del primer correo aéreo. Cartagena-febrero 21 de 1920" and signature. Mr. J. Soto very probably made an agreement with the C.C.N.A. and prepared a very small quantity of covers to be given to friends, although these were dated as from the First Flight of February 22. Nevertheless, one may hypothesize, and it is also believed by few collectors, that these souvenir covers were flown on the first stage (Cartagena-Barranquilla) of the flight by the "Medellín" of 30 November 1920 (the plane suffered a breakdown at El Banco), since the surcharge of 30 centavos corresponded to the C.C.N.A. Nevertheless, this hypothesis can not be demonstrated and, on the other hand, the national postage is missing. Only six vignettes, surcharged with 30 centavos, are recorded, all being used on cover. This "souvenir" surcharge was also applied on the first single-colour C.C.N.A. stamp; very probably not more than 20 examples were produced for each issue. Gebauer 6a. Ex Jack C. Boonshaft.
1920, 10c. green in an unsued block of four without gum, showing upper sheet-margin. This multiple is accompanied by the coloured "Curtiss" label, with marginal imprint, on which the design of this stamp was based. Neither the C.C.N.A. nor the printer asked for permission to copy the "Curtiss" labels. Scott C11.
1920, Nov. 30. Postcard from Cartagena to Medellin, franked on picture side with 10c. green tied by "CCNA/Cartagena" oval handstamp, with on front bearing National Post 1/2c. in block of four, tied on dispatch and arrival (10 December), showing manuscript notation in Spanish at bottom left: "Left Cartagena in the plane 'Medellín' on the 30 November 1920". Some tone spots hardly detracting. This stamp is very scarce used on cover and a true rarity on postcard; furthermore, very few items were flown on 30 November. Scott C11.
Attest Marchand, signiert A. Diena und G. Bolaffi. SBK 1W = CHF 220.000. Provenienz: Mirabaud, Ferrari und Burrus. "Zürich 4", background of horizontal lines, types I & II, an extraordinary pair featuring original, slightly cracked, gum, of remarkable freshness enabling its background to be quite clearly exhibited, showing good to predominantly large margins. A faint vertical crease between adhesives, and consequently not affecting the designs, is of no significance for this, one of the finest of only six unused pairs known, this being undoubtedly one of the finest and possessing the added significance of still preserving its original gum (an outstanding feature for this stamp); two of the six pairs known exhibit types I & II. (Sold for CHF 70'000 in 1964, Burrus auction held by Robson Lowe and Urs Peter Kaufmann in Basel, illustrated in one of the few colour plates dedicated to the most significant items of the collection; offered for the last time at public auction on that occasion). A great rarity of Swiss philately, and certainly a key item in the highly advanced collection. Cert. Marchand, signed A. Diena and G. Bolaffi. SBK 1W = CHF 220'000.
Attest Marchand, signiert A. Diena und G. Bolaffi. SBK 16/II. Provenienz: Hind und Burrus. Rayon II without framed cross, the exceptional block of twelve, unused with original gum, types 13-14-15-16 / 21-22-23-24 / 29-31-31-32, B1 stone, of delightful freshness with very large margins on all four sides, mostly displaying the frame lines between neighbouring adhesives. The great desirability of this item is further enhanced by the absence of imperfections (a tiny tear in margin of type 15 is of no importance), this being a most remarkable feature for this large multiple. The largest multiple recorded of the rare B1 stone of this extensively used stamp. (Sold for CHF 52'000 and presented as one of the most celebrated items of the Burrus collection in 1964; few years later this item was offered in an auction in London and now, circa 35 years later, this sale offers a wonderful opportunity to acquire this gem). A great gem of Swiss philately, representing a quintessential combination of beauty and rarity. Cert. Marchand, signed A. Diena and G. Bolaffi. SBK 16/II.

Attest Marchand, signiert G. und A. Bolaffi. SBK 35 (CHF 5.000 einzeln postfrisch).
