Operation Neptune D. Day 6 June 1944 Pre - Assault Royal Navy Bombardment. Operation Overlord Royal Marines Assault on Normandy. 41, 45, 46, 47, 48 Royal Marines Commando. Signed by Professor J O Forfar served as medical officer with 47 Commando RM during D Day landings, coming ashore at Gold beach near Les Roquettes and taking part in the Battle for Port en Bessin, the first port captured in Normandy. He served with the Commando throughout the War as was awarded the Military Cross and Mentioned in Despatches also Signed by Major M R Reynolds RM served as a Captain ( A Troop Commander ) with 48 Commando RM, during D Day landings. Came ashore at Juno Beach West of St Aubin Sur Mer where he was badly wounded in both arms.
