China - rare 1920-1922 International Famine Relief 1 Cent Red and Blue unmounted mint stamps issued by The China Famine Relief Commission. Lot comprises three packs of ten sealed envelopes with each envelope containing 10 stamps separated by waxed paper interleaving. Also included is a display card showing an example of the 10 stamps to be found in the envelope, plus a used example and an empty envelope detailing the famine relief prevention cause, plus a smaller famine relief stamp and a cutting from a stamp magazine when Stanley Gibbons had previously purchased these stamps from the vendor's father many years ago and had sold them to stamp collectors. Comprising an uncut sheet of 50 stamps, an almost complete sheet of 47 stamps and a sheet of 38 stamps. (Total 135 mint famine stamps). These stamps were split into packs of 10 stamps selling for 10 cents per sealed envelope and the purchaser was encouraged to affix one stamp to each envelope of normal mail which he posted to assist with the famine relief cause. Military - Royal Navy Second World War Corvette Model. An extremely well detailed Robbe radio controlled Corvette model of HMS Geranium of the Flower Class no.K16, length 52". Built by William Simon & Co.Ltd of Renfrew Scotland in 1940, used in summer 1942 to escort supply convoys to Malta in Operation Harpoon and Operation Pedestal between Straits of Gibraltar and Malta. Sold to the Royal Dutch Navy in September 1945 who renamed it 'Thetis'. Withdrawn from service in 1963. The vessel appeared as part of the 2012 Malta stamp issues commemorating the 70th anniversary of the World War 2 convoys to the island. Condition: Lot does not include radio control equipment.
