An SG43 1d red plate set, plates 71-224 contained within a stockbook, together with a possible plate 225 on separate stock card. N.B. Please note that this separate plate has a heavy cancellation date stamp that obscures the central digit of the plate number to both left and right hand margins, i.e the 2 and the 5 can be seen but not the central number. Potential buyers should satisfy themselves as to the potential plate number and there will be no returns.

Fine binding by Zaehnsdorf, red leather with green title & date labels to spine, gilt decoration, raised bands, marbled end papers, t.e.g. "Bound By Zaehnsdorf" stamp to verso of front free end paper. Condition Report: Contents clean and bright, binding nice and solid with a little wear to extremities and faint marks/scuffs to the boards. Gift inscription for 1889.

John Buckland-Wright (1897-1954), 'Cockerel', woodcut. Artist's stamp/initials lower-right. Mounted & framed. A very rare piece with an interesting copy of a note to verso, the Buckland-Wright family wishing their neighbours a happy Chinese New Year. The subject of the woodcut could perhaps relate to Golden Cockerel Press or the Year of the Rooster.Condition Report: Some general discolouration, paler near the mount, trimmed slightly within mounted area upper-right.
