A Staffordshire earthenware soup tureen on stand, meat plate and two dinner plates, Charles Meigh & Son, Old Hall Pottery, perhaps from the International Exhibition, Manchester, 1862, each piece designed with angels, saints within painted niches and entwined leafy swags against a gold ground, tureen height 31cm.Qty: 5Footnote:The overpainted Opaque Porcelain blind stamp together with the printed Royal Arms mark (Godden 2622) suggests that these pieces were manufactured at the time when Charles Meigh & Son was renamed The Old Hall Earthenware Company (1861-62). It was under the new name that "Specimens of earthenware" were exhibited at the Manchester exhibition, these included "Dinner, dessert, tea, breakfast and toilet services, from the most costly to the cheapest kind, both for home and foreign markets ..."
