An embroidered brocade frock coat, worn at the ballet 'Louis XV', Monte Carlo, 1922, handmade coat in cream and gold brocade, hand-embroidered to front, back, cuffs, and pocket flaps, with pattern of large meandering rose stems, worked in chain stitch, bullion stitch, and couching, in shades of pink, green, and yellow, incorporating gold metallised thread, and tiny spangles, ornamental buttons to front, cuffs, and pocket flaps, of metallised thread and spangles, sleeves with double frill of hand-made needle lace, one with initials 'SB' in red cross-stitch concealed within sleeve, lined with cream and white cotton, some wear, especially to underarms and cuffs, some loss of threadwork (in places revealing ink design beneath), occasional discolouration and light marks, with 2 inked fabric labels detached 'Cremonin' and 'Marini', chest 98 cm (38.5 ins), sleeves 56 cm (22 ins), length 92.5 cm (36.5 ins), together with 2 other brocade frock coats similar: the first of maroon velvet, lined with pale blue satin (with some staining), embellished with gold metallised lace (worn in places), and gold coloured buttons embossed with flowers and leaves, nape with inked fabric labels 'Penderie No. 9', 'M. Pigerre', and 'Vezzani'; the second of blue and gold brocade, with silk inserts in split sleeves, organza frill at cuffs, and embellished with gold metallised braid and edgings, somewhat worn, nape with indistinct circular ink stamp and inked fabric labels 'Otello', 'M. Modeste', and 'Trovatore 1er Acte 2me Acte, 2me Tableau'QTY: (3)NOTE:Provenance: The first and second items were sold at 'Costumes from the Monte Carlo Opera House sold by order of The Societé des Bains de Mer', Sotheby's, The Duke of York's Theatre, St. Martin's Lane, 16th November 1980, lots 81 and 54 respectively (the first item was worn for the perfomance of extracts from various ballets, titled Louis XV, first performed in Monte Carlo on 25th November 1922, and the second at the operetta Chérubin, first performed in Monte Carlo on 16th February 1905.

A mixed lot of items to include; a collection of various glass slides for magic lantern, all of rectangular shape and depicting various scenes including; acrobats, sea side scenes, fun character slides, and others, all within a large wooden box. Along with a late 19th lacquered postcard and stamp box with compartments inside, the exterior having mother of pearl inlaid to top with gilt and painted design to sides and top (some loss, slight damage etc), a small 20th century wooden perfume casket with two glass bottles within (one bottle broken to top so stopper does not fit properly). Rare Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Dress Dagger by Klittermann & Moog, Haan Solingen, fine untouched example of a model 33 SS enlisted mans dress dagger with the original grip having eagle and enamel SS runes. Reverse of the cross guard with ‘I’ district stamp. Housed in its scabbard with a three piece leather hanging strap. Near mint condition blade which retains much of the cross grain finish. This maker along with examples by Jacobs have the special pattern motto ‘Meine Ehre heist Treue!’. Makers trademark to the reverse of the blade. The blade measures 22cms, overall 37cms. Good patina to the exterior fittings of the dagger.
Third Reich DLV / NSFK Flyers Knife Dagger by SMF, Solingen, good example with nickel silver fittings, retaining the blue leather covering to the grip and to the scabbard. Black enamel to the centre swastikas on the cross guard. The ends of the cross guard are stamped with a ‘K’ and a another stamp which is not clear. Attached to the scabbard is the short brown leather hanging strap, metal clip spring gone. Scabbard throat is stamped with the acceptance stamps for both the DLV and NSFK. Double edged blade with makers trademark to the reverse. Some wear to the blade but generally a good example. Blade 17 ½ cms, overall 33 ½ cms.
German Reichsmarine / Third Reich Transitional Pattern Naval Officers Dress Dagger by Paul Weyersberg & Co, Solingen, example with white celluloid grip having the wire binding still present. Brass Kriegsmarine eagle pommel top. Cross guard with fouled anchor to the centre of each side, interesting no press stud for the release spring to the cross guard. Attached to the grip is the original officers bullion knot / portepee. Housed in its original deluxe hammered scabbard. The top of the scabbard throat is stamped with the Reichsmarine acceptance stamp. Plain double edged blade with makers trade mark to the base, Reichsmarine acceptance stamp below the trademark to the base of the blade. The blade has the scooped out section for the spring catch to be fitted but obviously removed when converted to Kriegsmarine period. Blade shows some wear with staining. The blade measures 23 ½ cms, overall 40cms. Due to the removal of the spring catch, dagger fits very tight into the scabbard.
Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Officers Sword Degen, fine untouched example of an SS officers sword with patina to the exterior fittings. The grip with SS runes emblem inserted to the centre. Attached to the guard is an original SS officers bullion sword knot / portepee. Housed in the original blackened scabbard with the original matching upper and lower fittings. The scabbard throat with SS acceptance stamp and underside of the guard also with acceptance stamp. Attached to the rear of the scabbard is a leather hanger. Fine unmarked straight blade with white leather washer to the base. The blade measures 83 ½ cms, overall 101cms. This is a superb untouched as found example of a scarce and desirable sword.
WW2 German Luftwaffe Officers Sword by SMF, Solingen, fine untouched example of an early nickel silver pattern with gilt mobile pattern swastika to the centres of the top pommel and winged cross guard. Blue leather covered grip with wire binding. Housed in the original blue leather covered scabbard with nickel fittings. Complete with blue leather hanger. Polished straight blade with SMF, Solingen makers trademark to the centre and acceptance stamp. Blade measures 71 ¾ cms, overall 92 ½ cms. Good example with patina to the fittings and scuffs to the leather.
Scarce 1st Pattern Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) Labour Service Enlisted Ranks Hewer Dagger by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, good untouched example of the scarce and desirable full stag grip pattern dagger, dark patina to the grip fittings. Housed in its original scabbard with the top mount and the lower mount having the RAD emblem to the centre. Scabbard has lost the blackened blued finish to the metal section on the obverse and remains of it to the reverse. Top scabbard mount throat stamped ‘Br.513’. Standard hewer pattern blade with motto ‘Arbeit adelt’ and the reverse with Carl Eickhorn makers trade mark and RADJ stamp. Some wear and patina to the exterior fittings of the dagger. Possibly some screws replaced on the scabbard mounts. Blade 24 ½ cms, overall 39 ½ cms.
Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Officers Chained Dress Dagger with Dedication to the Blade, fine untouched example of an early SS officers dress dagger with the original eagle and enamel SS runes emblem. The scabbard with type 2 chains has some light wear. SS acceptance stamp to the reverse of the chains. Attached to the grip is an original but worn officers dress portepee / knot. Some light denting to the bottom chape. Double edged blade with motto ‘Meine Ehre heist Treue’ and the reverse has a two line engraved dedication, ‘In Kameradschaft Stab R.3 u Führer d Stürme’. The blade measures 22cms, overall 37cms. Some wear to the blade and exterior fittings but generally a good untouched example with an original engraved dedication to the blade.
WW2 German Army Officers Sword Retailed by Baron, Solingen, interesting aluminium hilted sword in the style of examples manufactured by Hörster. Gold painted fittings to the hilt with panther head having small jewelled eyes. Housed in repainted black steel scabbard with single hanging ring. Polished slightly curved blade with retailers stamp to the base under the langet. The blade measures 80 ½ cms, overall 99cms.
German Unit Marked Luftwaffe 1st Pattern Officers Dress Dagger by SMF, Solingen, good example with nickel silver fittings. Pommel with mobile swastika to both sides, cross guard also with mobile swastikas to the centre. Blue leather covered grip with the original wire binding. Underside of the cross guard is unit engraved ‘Fl Gr (ZA) Rotenburg’. Officers bullion wire portepee attached to the grip. Housed in the original blue leather covered scabbard with nickel silver fittings. Complete with the original hanging chains with clip fitting. Double edged blade with SMF Solingen makers trade mark to the base and Luftwaffe acceptance stamp. Remains in very good overall condition. Blade 30 ¾ cms, overall 48 ½ cms.
WW2 German Luftwaffe Officers Sword by David Malsch, Steinbach, nickel silver mounted officers sword with large pommel having mobile swastikas and cross guard with mobile swastikas. Blue leather covered grip with wire binding. Housed in the blue leather covered scabbard with nickel silver mounts. Double edged straight blade with very feint makers trademark to the reverse, which is common with this manufacturer. Also with acceptance stamp above the makers trademark. The blade tip slightly rounded. Blade 72cms, overall 92 ¼ cms. Scabbard runners missing, some dents to exterior fittings and wear.
WW2 German Luftwaffe 2nd Pattern Officers Dress Dagger by SMF with Named Dedication to the Blade, standard type with orange celluloid grip, missing the wire binding. Polished aluminium top pommel with swastikas to both sides and cross guard in form of Luftwaffe eagle in flight. Housed in the original steel scabbard with two hanging rings. Some surface rusting to the scabbard. Double edged blade with SMF makers trade mark and Luftwaffe acceptance stamp above. The blade is also engraved on the obverse with the original owners name ‘H. Schmidt. Oberleutnant’ and the reverse ‘ Im Jahre n.C. 1938 Königsberg Pr.‘ The blade 25cms, overall 43cms.
Rare Third Reich SA (Sturmabteilung) Dagger with ‘Christmas’ Pattern Motto to Blade by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, fine example of an early SA dagger with brown wooden grip, nickel eagle and enamel SA device. Lower cross guard stamped with district / gau stamp ‘Fr’. Housed in the original anodised scabbard which has brown leather SA vertical hanger attached and single belt loop. Fine double edged blade with much of the cross graining remaining. The dagger has a variation early type motto ‘Alles fur Deutschland’, known as a Christmas pattern. The dagger blade has the early Carl Eickhorn, Solingen makers trademark to the reverse. The blade measures 22cms, overall 37 ½ cms. On the 15th December 1933, the SA Headquarters officially decided to institute a dagger to be worn with the SA uniform. On Christmas 1933 the first grouping of SA daggers were delivered to the higher SA leaders. These daggers are referred to as ‘Weihnachtsdolch’ (Christmas Dagger) and they have different design mottos to the later examples. This particular example is a transitional pattern with standard SA fittings. See previous lot for a earlier example with the 1927 pattern eagle
