JOH. BERG' within an engraved border around the throat, the body pierced with an anchor device, crossed bayonets and a crown to the front showing the red leather liner, the reverse pierced with a length-ways arabesque also showing the leather liner, ball finial at tip and suspension bracket (missing loop) to top bisecting the stamp 'No. 13'. The construction hole is visible to the base of the neck. It fastens with a pin and C-hook catch which forms part of the design. It bears no hallmark nor stamp but in our opinion would test as gold.
