Stephen Smith & Co., Boston - A 19th century American twin pedestal writing table desk / clerks desk. The desk having a open pigeon hole / filing cabinet top with a series of drawers and sections. Raised on a twin pedestal base, each with a bank of four drawers with each drawer having knob handles. All raised on plinth bases. Makers stamp to inner drawer. Measures approx. 153cm x 122cm x 77cm. All lots in this auction are part of a private collection of antique furniture and smaller effects. The collection having been amassed over a 30-40 year period by an ex-furniture restore who's eye for a good piece shows through in this auction. An unusual early 20th century Art Deco circa 1930s mixed media watercolour & postage stamp painting of a lady in a crinoline dress. The painting using King George V & U.S. stamps to depict & colour the lady's dress, with the cancellation marks used to shape the creases of the dress. The woman with umbrella and two spaniel dogs at her feet. Unsigned, framed & glazed. Measures approx. 39cm x 20cm including frame.
An original vintage early 20th century 1940s Art Deco advertising point of sale haberdashery plaster female mannequin dummy head The bust depicting a lady with curled hair from shoulders up. Featuring small perforations to either side of her eyes, implying that she was originally used in an optician's shop. Maker's stamp KC to verso. Measures approx. 30cm tall.
