19th century French mantel clock with eight day movement, outside countwheel, striking on a gong, with Japy Frères stamp and signed - Rollin à Paris 3280, gilt metal dial with individual inset enamelled blue Roman numerals and pierced trefoil hands, in a boulle work case of waisted form, with glass panel and rococo gilt metal mounts, on four scroll feet, surmounted by a seated figure playing a musical instrument, 40cm overall height (pendulum present, key lacking) CONDITION REPORT General overall condition reasonably good. Movement is clean, no visible signs of repair but has not been removed from case. Pendulum is numbered same as movement and appears original. Suspension spring is broken and we are unable to say if movement is in full working order. Dial is good, no damage to enamel numerals. Hands very slight rust. Case is reasonable but needs attention. Inlaid brass decoration is lifting in several places on both sides and top. Background is cracked and has surface damage on top and left hand side.
