Attributed to Louis Belzile (Canadian, 1929–2019) - Mausoleum with overhanging tree, unsigned, inscribed 'Louis Belzile, 457 La Fontaine, Riviere Du Loup, Quebec, Canada', 'Paris... 1953', with a label dated '3.9.59' as well as one other indistinct stamp, oil on board, 38 x 46 cm, framedArtist painter and sculptor from Quebec of the 'Plasticien' group, Louis Belzile was born in Rimouski in 1929. He studied at the Séminaire de Rimouski from 1940 to 1948, followed by the Ontario College of Art in Toronto. Belzile furthered his education at the André Lothe workshop in Paris in 1953 and 1954, and earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Montreal in 1958. He also attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Montreal from 1960 to 1961. works are found in many public and private collections. His paintings are exhibited in major museums in Quebec and Canada.
