Chin-strap. Rare. height 11.5 cm.
dating: first quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Charleville, Smoothbore, round, 17,8 mm cal. barrel, marked at the base with various marks including 'P' and 'D' under crown and with date '1815', provided with clutch for the bayonet. Smooth tang engraved with 'M.e 1777'. Lock with barely legible mark and marked 'Manuf.re Imp.le / de Charleville', brass pan. Walnut, full stock, on the butt Neuchatel Battalion 1804 mark on one side and red stamp on the other; iron mounts. Bands bearing remains of various marks, the one near the nozzle bearing a brass foresight. Iron ramrod. Socket bayonet bearing various marks (length 53 cm). Complete with strap and brown leather batterie cover. In wooden case covered in brown leather, the interior in soft red satin. length 145 cm.
dating: 1851 provenance: Belgium, Octagonal, rifled, 12 mm cal. barrel (clean bore, clearly visible rifling), the first part engraved with patent 'ADAM'S PATENT', provided with foresight and sight; five-shot cylinder with mark of the Liege test bench, marked with 'M' under crown and serial number '57xx'; frame engraved with borders engraved with geometric motifs, with patent's stamp and date 'ADAMS 1851 PATENT', marked with 'M' and same serial number, cartridge rammer. Trigger guard and butt-plat engraved en suite, the latter with primer case. With remains of antique browning on the surface. The external spring on the left side is missing. Knurled wooden grip. Mechanism working in single action. length 36 cm.
dating: late 18th Century provenance: France, Smoothbore, round barrel, 18,6 mm cal. at the nozzle, with octagonal breech, the clutch for the bayonet removed (hole in the barrel). Lock with marked lock plate, brass pan. Working mechanism. Wooden, full stock, trace of stamp on the butt stock (perhaps emblem of the French Revolution: 'AN' with shaft on which stands the Phrygian cap), a few restored woodworm holes, signs of use and time. Iron mounts with pitting. All the iron parts bearing the same mark. Iron ramrod. With one socket bayonet, with leather scabbard. Possibly a rare An IV model from the revolutionary period. length 145,5 cm.

Tang with model inscription 'M 1777'. Wooden, full stock with small signs of use and a couple of woodworm holes. Butt stock with stamp dated 1818 and remains of other stamps. Lock marked 'St. Etienne Manuf.re Royale' and bearing 'S' mark surmounted by fleur-de-lis. Working mechanism. Iron mounts and ramrod. With a socket bayonet. length 151,5 cm.
dating: Early 19th Century provenance: France, Curved, single-and short false-edged blade with almost parallel flat sides, marked at the forte with 'K' under star, 'B' among laurels, and 'L' inside a circle, with mark and date 'M.f.re Imp.ale du Klingenthal X... 1819' at the back. Some pitting at the tip. Typical one-piece brass hilt with grip. Tang probably restored. Guard with remains of marks and stamp 'VERSAILLES'. Leather scabbard with brass mounts. Cap with loop and white-dyed leather lacing. length 72,5 cm.

Copernicus.- Scultetus (Alexander) Chronographia sive Annales omnium fere regum, principum, & potentatuum, ab orbe condito, usque ad hunc annum Domini MDXLV, presentation copy from the author, with ink 'Dono meo Alexandri Sculteti' to foot of title, collation: *6 2*4 a-d6 A-O6, title with woodcut printer's device, tables, early ink ownership inscriptions and a later ink stamp to title, occasional contemporary ink marginalia, lacking O1 and O5&6 (the last with colophon verso otherwise blank), title wormed and with repairs, with loss of a few letters, mostly verso, *2 small worm trace and tear within text, with loss of the odd letter, mostly marginal worming throughout, occasionally encroaching on text (see in particular last few ff.), final 2 ff. frayed, the latter with crude repairs, a few tears, some spotting and water-staining, lightly browned, 19th century speckled wrappers, little worn, but holding firm, 4to (282 x 214mm.), Rome, Girolama Cartolari, 1546. *** An excellent association copy. The work contains one of the earliest references to the astronomer and mathematician Nicolaus Copernicus, who was a close friend of the author. Literature: EDIT 16 CNCE 23847.

Darwin (Charles) Portrait cabinet card by Elliot & Fry, on printed mount, captioned "The Late Charles Darwin. Born Feb 12. 1808 Died April 19. 1882", blind-stamp of William Lucks London to lower mount, "Marion, Imp Paris" printed to foot of mount verso, short tear into portrait fore-edge without loss, some very faint spotting and surface soiling, light foxing to mount verso, portrait 144 x 104mm., mount 167 x 109mm., [c.1882]. *** This half-length portrait is thought to be one of the last taken of Darwin, dating from around 1880.
