Stamp Accumulation - A Worldwide Correspondence, at the very least 2000 envelopes 1950s-'80s, majority 1970s, filling three bags-for-life, many combination frankings, especially India, Nepal, China, much Middle East and Gulf States, etc. with hundreds of attractive short-format covers. Several schoolboy albums amongst, some early.
A Hardstone Intaglio Seal Swivel Fob/Locket, the oval swivel fob containing the hardstone seals, with a hinged locket compartment, surmounted by a rope twist decorated bale, length 3.6cm Provenance: Dutton Manor, Lancashire It is in fair condition with slight scuffing commensurate with age and use. It bears no hallmark nor stamp but in our opinion would test as 18 carat gold. Overall measurements of the locket 3.6cm by 2.2cm. Gross weight 8.6 grams.
1923-4 Hornby Colman’s Mustard van. Open axleguard base, nut & bolt construction, nickel plated large drop-link couplings, nickel plated wheels on thin axles, yellow body with red & gold shadowed ‘Colman’s Mustard’, bulls head in top R/h corner, ‘By appointment’ in lower L/h corner, ‘Hornby Series’ on chassis beam one side R/h corner. Opening doors are complete with door handles. Roof is dark cream colour and has a couple of scratches. The body is un-marked. The box is buff coloured natural solid strawboard with printed label stating: “Covered luggage van – Carro de Bagaje Cubierto - Wagon de Bagages Couvert – Gauge 0 – Manufactured by – Fabricante – Fabriqué par – Meccano Ltd Liverpool Eng.” The box base has a pencil written ‘Colmans Mustard’ on one long side. There are two rubber stamp marks on the outside of the lid – one states ‘Colmans’ and the other ‘Tested.’ Internally it is stencilled ‘Made in Holland 28 x 36 =12’ which refers to the board maker and size of the uncut sheet. Graebe (New Cavendish) states this is the correct box and correct label. (BE)

Containing 62 engraved anatomical plates; collated 7, 1, 14, 8, 5, 27 and appearing complete. Measures approx. 56cm x 72cm.

A SET OF FIVE JAPANESE DISHES WITH ENAMELLED DECORATIONS OF FRUIT, BERRIES AND NUTS, MEIJI PERIOD, with gilt stamp underneath dated 1907, 21 cm diameter (5)One dish with hairline approx. 5 cm long from the outer rim. One dish with small chip to rim. General surface wear to enamel expected for age.
Alvo Aalto for Finmar, three model 60 stools, designed 1933, the circular tops, three with ebonised rims, the other with fully ebonised seat, raised on three bentwood legs, Finmar labels to underside44cm highAll four stool have the Finmar Ltd label on the underside, all four labels in a relatively clean condition. All four stools have surface wear to the legs, mainly situated at the bottom where they have in contact with the floor. There is surface rust to the nails as well. One of the ebonized rim stools has a half visible ink stamp found on the circular top (a photo has been taken to highlight this). There is surface wear on all three ebonized rimmed chairs, and more so on the fully ebonized circular top. There are no visible signs of splits to the wood and all four stools are structurally sound. On the ebonized circular top stool, there are signs of a possible restoration in the form of delayering/delaminating and a possible re-varnish.
Smuggling - An Act for the more effectual prevention of Smuggling in the United Kingdom. Printed Act of Parliament dated 1784. Folio 30pp in fine condition. Smuggling had become endemic throughout the 18th c particularly in the coastal areas of the West Country. By this time smuggling had become organised crime with gangs often resorting to violence against anyone attempting to stop it, so the authorities decided to stamp out the practice once and for all and this was the most important Act attempting achieve that end. Penalties were unsurprisingly harsh with the death penalty being introduced for anyone involved in smuggling

A 19th century Tunbridgeware stamp box - the cover with a 'Postage Stamps' label within a geometric inlaid border, 4.1 x 3.7 x 2.1 cm.* Condition: Small (5mm) chip to two-colour stringing to lower edge at the back left corner of the base. No other losses. Lid fits nice and tightly. Some deterioration to the polish to the surface throughout, with scratches and flaking in places.
