Rare Original Photo Of David Ben-Gurion With IDF General Staff In Swearing-in Ceremony, 1948. In the center of the photo are Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion, his wife Pola Ben-Gurion, minister Levi Eshkol (later became the third Prime Minister of Israel) and Israel Galili (political and military leader, former Knesset member, one of the leaders of the Achdut Haavoda Party) surrounded by the first IDF general staff officers: Yigal Yadin (second chief of staff of the state of Israel, professor of archeology, former member of the Israeli parliament), Aharon Remez, Isaac Sade, Yigal Alon [Israeli soldier and politician (one of the founders of the Palmach)], Moshe Carmel, Mordechai Maklef (was the third Chief of Staff) and other generals. The first chief of staff of the IDF General Yaakov Dori was absent due to illness. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) came into being with a proclamation by the Provisional Government of Israel, on 28 May 1948, in which it established the creation of land, air and sea forces. The proclamation was published on 31 May, and general officers were sworn into the IDF on 28 June. The back of the photo Bears the stamp of photographer - Photo Joffe. Length: 18cm / 7in. 1929 Military Medics Soviet Propaganda Poster By Shtranikh. Promoting the medical corps and encouraging the reader to learn military first aid. The poster depicts a group of three medics or nurses marching. The caption reads - "Learn Military First Aid". This poster is an offset lithography reprint on paper, made in 1976 at Aurora Art Publishing in Leningrad. Most poster reprints of this type of poster were reprinted outside the USSR. Reprints made inside the USSR borders are extremely rare and hard to find. Printing press stamp on back. 58cm X 41cm / 22.8in X 16.14in.

The A side can be graded as Ex with only one or two very light surface marks. The B side has a few more light surface marks, but nothing deeper than that. The four pronged centre is wholly intact, and there is a stamp that is marked 13 Nov 1964. MATRIX: 45 KR 4417-1N + 4418-1N.

CHURCHILL WINSTON S.: (1874-1965) British Prime Minister 1940-45, 1951-55. Nobel Prize winner for Literature, 1953. A fine vintage signed 5 x 7.5 photograph by Churchill, the image depicting him in a classic half length pose. Photograph by Walter Stoneman of London and bearing his credit stamp to the verso. Signed ('W S Churchill') with his name alone in bold fountain pen ink to the lower photographer's mount. Accompanied by a printed 8vo sheet of 10 Downing Street, Whitehall, notepaper bearing the typed words 'With Mr. Churchill's Compliments. A Souvenir of 10, Downing Street 1940-45' and further dated 26th July 1945 and with the name Sergeant Green in ink in an unidentified hand at the foot. Also included are two colour photocopies of Sergeant Gordon J. Green's National Registration Identity Card issued on 14th August 1940 and indicating that Green was a member of the Metropolitan Police's Special Branch. EX Gordon J. Green (1908-1991) British Police officer who joined Special Branch in 1938. Green served as a Protection Officer to Churchill in 1945 and 1951-52 and accompanied the Prime Minister to the Potsdam Conference. The present photograph was given to Green on the day on which the Conservatives lost the General Election of 1945 and Churchill resigned as Prime Minister.
