(2) *- Royal Jersey: Corners and spine bumped and rubbed. Cracking at top of spine. Damp stains to margins of end papers. Heavy foxing to title. Toning throughout to pages. Some scattered foxing to all plates. One plate detached with torn, rough edge at spine. - Peirson: Fading to margins of boards and spine. Corners bumped and worn. Handwritten presentation pastedown to ffep from Mr. A. Coutanche, Jersey, dated 24 Aug 1918 and two small tears to lower margin. Ink ownership stamp to title. Plates slightly cockled. One plate loose.
Potter (Beatrix) - three first editions all with original boards with front paste-downs, comprising: The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies, 1st ed, 1st or 2nd printing 1909, grey-brown boards, with early version noticeboard on p.14 and no robin on arbour p.81; The Tale of Johnny Town-Mouse, 1st ed., 1918, mid-grey boards, with 'London' printed correctly on the title-page, but p.39 with quotes before first line and p.51 without quotes before first line; and The Story of a Fierce Bad Rabbit, 1st ed., c.1913, pale salmon boards. (3) *- Flopsy Bunnies: Spine strip lifting slightly to head and tail, and slight cracking to board at centre of front. Corners bumped. Ink stamped initials to ffep. Gutter cracking between p.18/19 and p.17 has a large tear across the top of the page, with creasing and crumpling to the paper above - the tear has an old repair to the reverse using gummed stamp margins. Some creasing to following two pages. Otherwise clean with a few small soil marks. - Johnny Town-Mouse: Two small white paint spots to spine and back. Boards lightly rubbed and corners lightly bumped. Small paint spot to front pastedown & adhesion mark to ffep opposite, and a few small fox marks beneath. Clean copy. - Bad Rabbit: Back board soiled. Boards otherwise good. Cracked at front gutter. Some foxing throughout.
