1921-32 Reversion to die I, 1s black/emerald upper right corner horizontal pair with plate number ‘23‘ and sheet number ‘004‘, showing variety ‘Short D in 'LEEWARD‘ on right stamp, pos. 1/6 from the right pane (SG 87/var), very fine lightly hinged o.g., a very scarce positional piece, from the Oct 1931 printing (261 sheets). 1922 (15 Apr) 'One Farthing' (type 21) on 2d grey, horizontal pair the right stamp variety Dot to 'i' of 'Farthing' omitted, pos. 4/4 of the lower left pane (SG 122/a), perf separation between the pair leaving it joined by just a few perfs and a short perf at foot on the variety, large part o.g., a scarce variety which occurred in the first printing only, which may have been as small as 50 sheets with some showing only partial omission of the dot. The Malta handbook comments (p.171) 'It is a very scarce variety and seldom appears on the market', cat £425+
