** Stamp /stamps: This is the first of several SUPERB UMM Iranian lots all offered in 'place for everything' APADANA albums. The 85 immaculate pages offered in this single album are from 1968 (first anniversary of the coronation of the Shahinshah and the Empress Farah) thru' 1982 Universal Day of Ghods. All are UMM and have pristine gum.
A Booths exotic bird pattern vase, with flared rim, decorated with panels of birds and flowers formed in orange, green and yellow with gilt highlights on shaped circular foot, 25cm high, printed marks, a 19thC Coalport two handled vase with Stephenson Manchester retailers stamp, delicately hand painted with scenes of mountains and trees, broken by crescent shaped sections of flowers with gilt highlights on a circular foot and a Royal Worcester polychrome decorated jug with figure spout, thumb scroll handle and bulbous body decorated with flowers with gilt highlights, printed marks beneath. (3 profusely damaged)
Aristide Maillol (1861-1944) Woodcut 'Georgiques' Woodcut in sanguine on paper depicting stylised branches with fruit, artist's monogram stamp outside border to bottom left. 'Georgiques' Aristide Maillol was born in 1861 Banyuls-sur-Mer, France. In 1881, he moved to Paris to study art, and in 1885, enrolled in l’École des Beaux-Arts. Greatly influenced by the Nabis,a group of French artists whose work was composed of decorative patterns, Maillol excelled at tapestry and eventually opened a workshop that would gain him acknowledgement for revitalizing this art form in France.
