Some small holes at top and bottom edges where has been previously mounted, some faint pencil outlines, some further marks, frame worn.Phoebe Rennell was born in Clapham, London and attended the local Clapham School of Art, later working as a calligrapher, illuminator and illustrator in the Arts & Crafts tradition of William Morris and Walter Crane and a potential student of Edward Johnston or Graily Hewitt, Miss Rennel also occupied Fydell House in Boston during WWII and escaped unharmed when the house suffered bomb damage.This lot qualifies for Artist Resale Rights. BENHAM & FROUD; an Arts and Crafts copper and brass stylised floral decorated tripod jardinière, stamped to base 'Made in London' with Benham & Froud maker's stamp, diameter 24.5cm.Additional InformationSurface scratches as you would expect but these are not too heavy, slightly misshapen but nothing too serious, the unsightly aspect is the way the feet are adjoined to the body of the jardiniere, these seem to be rather crude and standing proud on the interior, this may be how it was constructed however it seems rather clumsy, a couple of tiny dents to the body.

Two silver hallmarked vesta cases dating from the 19th Century, one having engine turned decoration with central cartouche and the other having engraved foliate decoration, both having match striker to base. One hallmarked for Birmingham date letter Y 1898 makers mark rubbed, the other hallmarked for Birmingham date letter b 1901, makers mark for Joseph Gloster. Together with a small silver stamp case in the form of an envelope having embossed 'Stamps' to front, stamped sterling. Total weight of all three items 47.5g. Biggest measures 5cm tall by 3.5cm wide.
